Dude that shit Is diethyl ether it's notorious for its vapours escaping bottles.
Also the vapour can ignight at a super low temp, a warm engine is more than enough to set it off.
Not to mention if you store ether exposed to air for a long time it forms explosive peroxides.

It would evaporate off quite quickly too unless in a completely sealed un-vented container.

      >diethyl ether
Good shit, though the stuff for every day use is full of cancer. The pure stuff is like getting drunk at first but with a lot the time and sound dilation is insane.

Does your chain saw suffer from low compression? Try and run some seafoam through it.

Go here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDaOcNrS6BM or somewhere like it an d learn how to clean your carburetor.
A gas engine running on ether alone will be lean and hot. No es bueno.

    >I'm going to fill the fuel tank with starter fluid
won't work because if it only runs with starter fluid that means the carb is clogged, and also the starter fluid will evaporate too quickly.

I'm a software guy who until like 3 months ago didn't own anything other than a screwdriver.
I got a racing kart, and rebuilt the motor, honed the head, lapped the valves, honed the jug, replaced the piston and rod. And just put 10 hours on it and a race win.

Just fricking rebuild it, it's not as hard as the boomers make it seem, we have Google.

This is my favorite thread of the night. Digits do not lie. Take a lesson from this anon, stop making excuses, stop jerking off to anime beastiality, stop eating goyslop and go do something, trying and failing is 1000x better than being a comfort addicted manbaby. Nice job brother. Next build a globalist hunting robot.

They add ethanol to gas nowadays, so it must be better than gas. I will run my chainsaw on pure ethanol.

My chain spins fast at idle. I tried taking apart the clutch and greasing the needle bearing along with cleaning everything with carb cleaner. I also already rebuilt the carburetor, and have been trying to tune it.

I don't know anything about engines, chainsaws, carburetors or tuning. The chainsaw has been sitting around for more than 10 years without use, no idea when it was last used. Are the clutch springs bad or is my tuning bad?
