Actually wasn't that unusual, Britian's early jet designs also were famously slower than prop planes. I didn't know about this plane though, looks like an incomplete fishbed
Why not a biplane with jets? Soviets made an I-153 with Merkulov DM-4 ramjets. Could such modification given thw VVS a leg up against early bf109 and ki-27?
It was a massive failure, though. Caught fire during take-off, flew (while on fire) something like 50 meters, then crashed into one of the old Paris walls. Coanda was ejected out of the wienerpit and ended up in a cart full of cow dung, where he was promptly arrested by the po-po, under accusation of being an anarchist agitator.

*Or it might've been horse dung, the details are scarce.
You know that "jet" refers to being propelled by a high velocity exhaust jet and not the turbomachinery in the engine, right? That's the "turbo" part of "turbojet". A rocket is a type of jet engine.
Well yea it was capable of deflecting 9mm ammunation
Good thread. Anything more about it?
why does your skin have the same color as shit?
look at mister redditor here getting all excited because he's finally on a board that doesn't ban him for racism
Because your father jumped the fence pablo, same time as mine
Can you be less of a homosexual in future?

A compressor powered by a reciprocating engine. Man, early technology has some weird evolutionary dead ends
Cool, I learned alot today
>and it was slower than a biplane
but, damn did it look sexy.
It looks like a dildo.
Exactly
It looks like your moms dildo
Porn brained homosexual. If you can’t appreciate the brutalist flair of pasta aviation then you shouldn’t be here.

looks like a car
>jet
More like an afterburning ducted fan powered by a normal piston engine. Soviets did the same.
Motorjets are pretty old tech, tentative designs were being proposed as early as 1918.

poland has the world's first and only jet biplane
Bet those pols made the wing pods that large to smuggle contraband over the iron curtain
Looks like they're designed for hauling toilets in possibly the first aviation shitpost ever.
Sorry but America beat Poland in regards to toilet hauling and delivery
>poland has the world's first and only jet biplane
Maybe the first turbojet biplane, but Coanda made a motor-compressor biplane in 1910.

Still a Brayton-Joule cycle
>slower than a biplane
*faster than an advanced, 1930s biplane. No Sopwith Camel is going 233mph.
Whoops, I meant *slower than an advanced, 1930s biplane.
>p-59 was never made in large numbers
Pain
They tried.
