Not really. I started out with my 88 and, sure, it's enough for you to try it out but you'll want to upgrade to something better straight away. It's just way more enjoyable using the right gun.

Does it really make any difference, other than barrel length? I used to shoot trap competitively with my old 870 and I can’t imagine that a different gun would have mattered much

shooting clays is like, 99.9% skill and 0.1% equipment. you can shoot them with even less, a single shot 12ga with a modified choke will do. I would clown on regulars at the club with my turkshit semi until It broke.
All you need to bust every single clay out of the air is a shotgun and practice. If you can't do it with an 88 you can't do it with a finely balanced O/U. The finely balanced O/U will make you not want to go back to the 88, but the point still stands.

You could do all your cooking with a razorblade since you saw it in a mafia movie and thought it was a great idea. after all a knife is a knife all it needs to do is cut. That doesnt mean you dont want a kitchen knife and that all cooking related tasks would be better with the right knife.
ive legitimately shot clays better with a single shot dumpster gun than a 2000 dollar nice semi auto bird gun
i will say the semi auto was a lot more pleasant on the shoulder

I was looking online at surplus parts and there actually are some 12 gauge bolt and barrel conversions for nuggets IIRC
think the gist was some kinda blank launcher adaptation for weather balloons or something wacky like that, was p neat
Personally I’ve always wanted to just make an ishapore copy and convert a nugget over to .410 shotshells since the dimensions are close enough that you’d need minimal magazine work and like a smoothbore conversion for ATF dogshittery
you can even use the same stripper clips, kinda neat
The mossberg ones are metal and will bend. I dont see it fitting without modifcation and possibly longer screws. Its not going to drop in.
Plastic ones are nogo unless you drill it out to fit the larger barrel diameter.

Semi related but could I throw on any heat shield on my 590A1? Wanna throw one on for my autism but they only match with the 500 590 and the mav 88
