Are there any modern lawn mowers that don't involve really small intricate parts and plastic all over. I always come across these YouTube videos of people restoring and learning small engine repair on classic lawn mowers. Are there any modern lawn mowers that are simple to work on and aren't small, intricate, and require plastic and etc?
>small, intricate, and require plastic and etc?
Have you ever seen a mower? What "small intricate parts" are in a two stroke engine? How much plastic is used in the exhaust manifolds or chassis? And why do you think using a different chassis type that uses the same engine technology will avoid that shit?
Get the frick off youtube anon. There is a reason those death traps don't exist anymore.
>two stroke
I've never seen a lawn mower powered by a two stroke engine. Smaller powered landscaping tools, yes, but mowers no. I'm sure some existed but four stroke is definitely the dominant engine choice.
Your point stands though, the most plastic I've ever encountered is in the cover for the pull string or the grass chute, and the wheels I guess. And they have the same amount of small intricate parts as old mower engines plus maybe a few bits for automatic throttle control or automatic choke.
All lawn boys were for like 40 years
2 stroke lawn mowers are a thing in australia.
I don't think you will find new ones anymore unless they are old stock.
Victa stopped making the engine around 2016. Although they are still plentiful and cheap if you know how to work on them.
That's a lot of plastic.
yeah, those push powered reel mowers
>Are there any modern lawn mowers that don't involve really small intricate parts and plastic all over.
no
Some of the $1000+ commercial pushmowers are still built in an old fashion. Big back wheels with innertubes, mechanical linkages instead of shitty cables, and some with 2 very small belt driven blades. Some have a belt driven rear axle.
Everything cheaper than that will be plastic covered chinese engines with sealed gearboxes that have plastic gears. At least the plastic carburetors are easy to clean.
Any idea which brands?
These are good if you want basic. But seriously lawn mowers are very simple you should be able to repair it yourself. Honda make great mowers if you have the cash. Facebook market place always has cheap options.
Isn't that a Deutcher?
This any 19-21 inch mower powered by a gxv160 and a decent deck will work well.
Oh yeah make sure it doesn't have a blade clutch. Just keep your hands away from the blades.
27" model too.
