He's not wrong, Ukraine today can't manufacture (on any meaningful scale):
      - heavy equipment - tanks, APCs, armored vehicles etc
      - small arms - not even pistols
      - artillery - not even light mortars
      - planes, cruise missiles, drones
      - spare parts for anything listed above
      - ammunition - can't make shells, can't make rifle rounds
Previously, they at least had ammo factories, could manufacture tanks for export, were developing complex anti-ship missiles etc. No, buying parts from China and assembling them into 20 remote controlled boats doesn't count.

Take notes anons, this is a divide and conquer shill. Notice that nobody was talking about Trump until this guy makes an intentionally inflammatory post dripping with petty sarcasm for no reason.
I don't care what anyone says, American politics being used in this way only serves to divide the nation and this board further and serve the interests of foreign tyrants, regardless of which party you throw your lot behind. In fact, there's been a lot of this political shitflinging lately that has zero relation to weapons or to the ongoing war, just people spouting off conspiracy nonsense about Russia and Trump or Biden and whoever else to derail the discussion and sow discord.
Set it aside, call out or ignore the homosexuals stirring the shit like this poster is, domestic partisan pettiness can be put on hold until after every anti-American who hates us all is a charred skeleton in the burnt-out ruins of their inferior barbarian "nation", simple as.
Rome fell because of political divides, and if we're going to fall I want the world to burn before we do. America needs to be the last one standing, and it will be.

            Anonymous

Rome didn't fall because of political divide, or at least not completely. It was the crumbling of a difficult to manage territorial empire. If they had jets they would still be standing today. Everything was just too slow to have a large empire back then, which is all the more impressive that it lasted that long.

              Anonymous

A decent amount of it was the great divisions amongst them. For starters, politicians were about as unbudging partisans as they are now, often outright encouraging their supporters to beat up the supporters of their rivals. Of course, none of them would agree on anything or compromise.
There was a religious rift, but as of the late empire it wasn't what you might think. Rather than a Christian and pagan thing, it was actually more Nicene and Arian Christians getting into massive brawls after each and every mass because of that whole Trinity debate. It was said you couldn't even buy bread without the baker asking you which side you were on before he'd sell to you.
There was a long-standing "racial" rift too. Or rather, division between the Romans and the myriad of conquered provincial peoples also calling themselves Roman. The only solution the government tried was telling them "well, we're all Romans now" which just made people lose faith in the system.
There was a gender rift too. Women were tired of their husbands killing their babies for being the wrong gender or something, so many flocked to Christianity because it taught that infanticide was abhorrent. This played into previous rifts, but you saw the old Roman ways of life changing rapidly.
There was other stuff like the economy (they managed to cause fricking inflation somehow) and enlisting foreigners who didn't care about Rome into the legion, as well as Rome having a gender ratio that was 60% male to 40% female due to the aforementioned infanticides (so a lot of disenfranchised men unable to get a wife), but these social divides played their part too. Some people blame Christianity, but it was just icing on the shit cake that was the late Empire. It was going to fall regardless of Jesus's input. Provinces were rebelling and breaking away over time until they lost it all due to these other divides. The last "emperor" was deposed and replaced by a king when their dominion was over Italy alone.

In a currency using precious metals you get inflation by debasing the currency, i.e. minting coins with less valuable metals mixed in in greater proportion.

Lets you pay for more stuff by basically just printing extra money, but puts more of it in circulation and acts as an extra hidden tax on everyone who's not a land owner.

the biggest hindrance would probably be getting and training the workforce, given the current labor market in the US. I've been working in factories since I got out of the military and its rough. You would probably have a hard time recruiting experienced people as the surge in need for labor would eventually go away, and they'd get laid off.

I'd do it though. I live minutes from the old Twin Cities ammo factory, which i knew from my time as a WTI headstamp nerd in the military. City hall and local white people restaurants decorate with pics of ammo workers and examples of each stage of progressive stamping needed to make a brass casing.

It's expensive but not astronomical. A new chip fab, probably one of the most expensive factories is usually 15-20 billion, and it's easily factors of magnitude greater than a munitions plant

The fabs in the US will never be profitable, they're just a last resort backup.

US fabs hit 30-40% yields when running a node 1 generation older than what they run in Taiwan. Meanwhile in Taiwan the 1 generation newer node is hitting 70-90% yields.

US workers simply don't do well in fab environments historically.

Difference is that western artillery actually manages to hit its target, which is why Russia's 10x artillery advantage disappeared over the course of the war and Russia can't make mount an offensive worth shit and ukis made more progress in 10 days than Russia did in 10 months.

Please note that the US has produced over 100,000 PGKs as of last fall, and hasn't sent Ukraine a single one of them (just Excaliburs). It also has a few hundred thousand JDAMs, and tens or hundreds of thousands of GMLRS. That's... a lot.

so we just gonna ignore that? Not to mention that russia also had to buy ammo from others

Okay lets say for a sec that is true. Who are these weapon systems supposed to be used on? Russia? Well they're no longer a threat outside NOOOKS. China? Well I suppose so, but the majority of weapons used for a war with China will be ship and aircraft systems. Which are, surprisingly, not being sent to Ukraine.

So what is exactly the issue here? NATO isn't going to be involved with China. Russia isn't going to be steamrolling to Berlin. So why does it matter if ammo stocks are low for NATO?

I imagine him at the end of the Russian civil war, cracking open the last MOD bunker and there in the bunker, thousands upon thousands of shells. Gleaming, pristine shells with the oil still on them, stacked neatly on thousands upon thousands of pallets (unknown technology!) stacked from floor to ceiling in a space the size of an aircraft hanger, and this is only one of hundreds of such rooms in this bunker. And behind Prigozhin is Shoigu and Gerasimov in rags and chains. Prigozhin pushes them forward and delivers their sentence :
"You have to count all of the shells!" before pushing them in and ordering the door closed. As he walks off to his new life as Tsar, he flicks open a pair of sunglasses and puts them on.

Alright, I have a bit of free time, let's waste it.
    >Why no weapons? :CCCC
Simple, Ukraine had less at the start of the war, through donations of Russia and countries with drinkable tap water its quantities have risen, but their stocks are still smaller than Russia because they always can dust off rusted weapons and put them into service, picrel.
    >Why does it fire less? :CCC
Less weapons to fire, more enemy fire, even if by concentration, meaning more shoot and scoot.
    >Why more air defense?

Yes it's hyperbole. But the fact remains that if Russia were to pull back to whatever clay they've determined is forever Russian on that particular day while claiming very loudly that they've won they're still going to be subjected to an actual military making a determined push into said clay. Which is comically different from the situation with Israeli settlements in the west bank.
                >it took Russia less than a week to defend its borders,

No amount of shitty news snippets will change the fact that Puccia couldn’t take a town of 80k over the course of 8 fricking months. That’s imperial proof positive that Russia’s artillery advantage has gone from “Grozny tier,” to “Serbia tier,” and that’s a best case scenario for Puccia. More than likely the flurry of precision UAF arty strikes this past week has knocked out valuable Russian defense positions (see that MSTA battalion? Not anymore you don’t lol)

If the war continues on like this for another month, Russia might start bringing T-64s out of storage to use as arty… OH WAIT LOL, they already did that… and then when it wasn’t enough they started bringing out T-55s. Truly the second army of the world huh

I think Putins little press conference oopsie about losing ~50 tanks in a handful of days tells us everything we need to know about the counter-offensive considering
      >Russians lie about their losses all the time
      >The Ukie loses we've seen have been limited and replenishable (see: US already sending in new Bradleys to replace the loses).
      >Russia has what, 4k tanks in Ukraine right now?

The Ukies might not be advancing that much yet, but they are probably chewing through the Russian material at a terrifying speed as the counter-offensive forces the Russians to move up their stockpiles within Himar range again. They probably also have a very hard time actually engaging the western armor as so far we see primarily mobility killed vehicles getting finished up by artillery or drones going in to torch them before they can be recovered.

Basically, the Russians are probably running out of "stuff".

Because R*ssoids unironically can't hit shit if they don't fire a frick ton of rounds. VatBlack folk like yourself bragging about the orcs firing twenty, thirty thousand shells a day is a hilarious self-own that you are too fricking stupid to grasp.

    >Why does Ukraine say it needs more air defenses and why does Russia bomb targets all across the country on a nightly basis largely unimpeded?
See above and because attacking is easier to do than defending. To dumb it down to the point that even you should have at least a chance of getting it:

If you have 10 locations you want to protect but only 10 systems capable of shooting down 1 missiles each and the enemy has 10 missiles per attack then you are have a dilemma on your hands because no matter how you distribute your systems, the enemy can simply either a) fire at a location you left undefended (to concentrate defenses on others) or b) fire enough missiles to overwhelm the defenses of any location with fewer systems than you have missiles.

Sure there are, the ones adequately defended. Or why has R*ssia still not managed to hit Kyiv's government buildings (even though R*ssoids clamored for it since the start of the war)? More gestures of good will?

Besides, you overestimate the effectiveness of strategic bombing. Just look at WWII. Germans rebuilt completely bombed out factories in a matter of months, sometimes even just weeks. R*ssoids would have to keep hitting it and since most recently the only things that really manage to get through are Shasneeds with their tiny payload, it is highly unlikely that they'd ever manage to completely bomb out any such factory in the first place. At most they'd inconvenience it a bit for a day or two while someone has to sweep up some broken glass, an intern and fix a whole in the roof.

I suspect that they may feel the need to retreat to crimea now while their defensive lines are intact and the Ukrainians won't be able to nip at their heels.
