Yeah and it was so fricking shit they chose to invest into Leopards instead.
It takes French and Germans to finish the job properly.

honestly? baserat, if we're not gonna make the design ourselves we might as well have bigger industries make it so we can get it cheaper later on

    >The question is, how will the french ruin it?

    Potential features:
    - Weight reduction to 50 tonnes - more compact design
    - Mobility, mobility, mobility - high power to weight ratio
    - System of systems approach - common platform with different types including gun tank, missile launcher, and uncrewed air defence wingman
    - Likely to have a larger gun - 130 mm / 140 mm and capacity to fire NLOS ATGMs
    - Uncrewed turret
    - Three-person crew located in the hull
    - Integral APS / SHORAD capability
    - Hybrid electric drive with 1,800 hp
    - Passive and Reactive protection
    - Front-mounted engine

Less weight, more mobility, 3 men crew, autoloader...
I don't know, seems more in line with traditional french tanks and doctrine than german ones...

Compact, low profile tanks with minimal crew and big, loooooong guns.

Expect the lines between Tanks, IFVs and SPGs to become increasingly blurry, especially as smart/guided ammo becomes more common. Paired with integrated drones for spotting, armor might not ever come within line of sight of the enemy.

what mistakes have been made with Armata aside from Russia being incapable of actually producing it?

          - technology that's basically only for show. there's videos of the guys tapping at nonfunctional touchscreens.
          - shitty obsolete sensors (aka shit tier awareness)
          - bad engine (an no, not just what fat schwein tall about on youtube)
          - kept the soviet style autoloader (fricking kek)

also, like it or not MBTs are going to have to deal with drones one way or another. best to design that in from day 1. t14 has nothing.

NTA, but all those aside from the autoloader are a result of it being a parade piece they can't actually build.
Also, afaik development started way back in the early 2000s when the only drones were fancy RC airplanes.

even the EMBT demonstrator already has anti-drone RWS, so I'm gonna assume that won't be forgotten with the actual MGCS. Also I doubt nonfunctional touchscreens and sensors will be a problem.

Dumb kraut, the design of this thing just like with many so called modern tanks, demonstrates the French were right from the beginning with the Leclerc.
But I still fricking hope France leaves this shitshow anyway.
