Hey guys - is there anyplace in the US I can find a 1/4" thick piece of metal that's around 2" x 4"?
Need to make a spacer for a large caster, and Home Depot/Lowes only seems to have thinner steel

no.
nowhere in all the united states is there somewhere that sells 1/4" metal of that size. definitely going to have to look overseas.
You realize I said 2 inches by 4 inches (not feet), right? That doesn't seem like a crazy request.
Even it it was a little bigger, I should be able to cut it to size
This feels like a bizarre post but what actual shape and dimensions are you after?
Because if you are actually after some obscure dimensions you could cast ali using the lurkmoar technique?
>what actual shape and dimensions are you after?
The dimensions are in my post: 1/4" x 2" x 4". Don't overthink this, it's literally right there.
>cast ali using the lurkmoar technique
I have absolutely no idea what that means
You want a piece of quarter inch thick flat bar 2 inches wide and cut 4 inches long is that what you are saying?
Yep
And you want this in steel? Any particular type of steel; corten, en24, en8, etc, etc?
Doesn't matter, it's just a spacer for a caster
What are you tolerances?
all these helpful boomers
thank goodness op didn't have to use google or something to get his answer in a fraction of the time.
And there's the added bonus of a pointless shitflood thread sitting in the catalog for the next three weeks!
win/win
you helpful boomers really are the best. plus, we now know just how helpful and/or smart you all are.
>lurkmoar technique
Did nobody notice this at all?
I'm going to keep bumping this thread for years to come, just to remind you that you're a worthless homosexual and that this thread isn't any lower quality than 98% of what is in the catalog.
Oh no there's only 49 threads about which tool brand is the best on the catalog now instead of 50.
>he fell for the pex meme!
Your local steel yard, though they probably have a minimum order size
Find a local machine shop or fabricator. 50/50 chance they'll be buttholes, but they might give or sell you a piece of scrap.
Or just use Midwest Steel Supply which has pretty decent prices last time I used them and ship across the US https://www.midweststeelsupply.com/store/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAi8KfBhCuARIsADp-A55cXkg2Hkm1tZzIS18eZMgQi6EF1_1RZZ1WEGbkcThbcAcXTX2tsWUaAutPEALw_wcB
For a piece of 1/4" x 2" x 12" carbon steel it is $4.75, it will probably cost more than that to ship it.

This belongs in sqtddtot.
Go to anyone local that does some welding/fabricating and ask them to cut you a piece of 1/4" flat to 2"x4"
you can get 3m for £50 online if you want? adgust to yank units as appropriate
I only have 17/64" thick stock, sorry bub
just use an angle grinder and steal it off something
If it's just a spacer maybe it's cheaper to stack whatever thinner stock you can find at home depot. It use plywood.
