>buy 105,000 M5s
Why is the US military so noguns? Aren't there literal millions of M16s/M4s to replace?

Not everyone gets a new shiny, just combat roles, everyone else can still qual just fine on A2s they have beating around the bottom of armories.

Oh boy if you only knew.

It is absolutely possible to do 20 years in the army and only ever fire a weapon on 20 occasions.

Infantry notwithstanding. Infantry is actually a very small branch

    >Marines need to replace their old beat up SAWs might as well ditch the A4 for frontline while they're at it
    >Army actually has funding for stupid new wunderwaffel
don't get how "buying hundreds of thousands of brand new guns" is noguns but alright, I'm sure you understand better why Johnny Shitpants in a supply battalion needs a shiny new M5 instead of focusing on re-equipping the poor bastards that are actually going to be in firefights.

This is the fricking Pentagon we're talking about. Prease Understand Small Military doesn't fly when completely replacing everyone's service rifles would cost about as much as, say, one plane.

They're not allowed to actually replace anything feeding 5.56x45mm and anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron. The M5 is going to be a gucci SOCOM toy that they refuse to use because it and everything about it is completely worthless.

The Air Force is swapping out their M4s force-wide as well.

No, they're not. The IMR Blue is literally just Geissele & Daniel Defense kits for the upper receiver and LPVO. NATO standard is still and will always be 5.56x45mm.

You're thinking of the new H&K DMR. From what I've heard the IMR will be on completely new lowers to bring it into serialization with the GAU-5/A

No, Anon. The IMR is literally just Geissele & DD kits with a new trigger group and LPVO. The GAU-5A is also literally just an M4 with a quick-detach barrel system.

That sounds rather similar to the URGI, also where did you find info on this program as i haven't seen a ton.

Not him but I saw the Geissele & Daniel Defense procurement contracts on SAM.gov a week or two ago.

Since M16/M4's are getting phased out, does this mean that we'll see webm's of pro-american militias in the third world with M16's/M4's in the future?

      >In the future
Dude pro American militia had "m16s" before the US Army even adopted them as the M16.

The AR-15 originated before the M16, Anon.

The Afghanistan withdrawal surely wasn’t an example of this, was it?

Why buy a bunch of guns when no one will join your gay military?
They will only need to buy a bunch of guns once conscription happens because the people who control biden tell him to invade syria or some dumb shit like that.

The NFA should be set ablaze and every M16/M4 available to the civilian market.

Because they're not actually switching. This is embezzlement by another name.
