Unless it shoots an IR laser you can develop a lot of bad habits by looking for the laser. I have the none laser model and use it like I would doing basic Dryfire with my par timers.
Yeah I read some review of it that said the app can register double taps as single shots and other stuff like that. Anything that can make dry fire less boring is tempting though. The only other one I've looked into is Coolfire, which is only for handguns.
Yeah they sell their Blackbeard for AR-15 without the app connectivity for $100 less than their fully-featured model with motion tracking and all that. Another problem with it is that I read people on Arfcom claiming that it doesn't fit in certain lowers and uppers like Radian and LMT. If your receiver set is anything but milspec then you might not even be able to use the thing.
oh yea and protip, none of the high level pro shooters actually use the meme dryfire stuff for rifles or handguns. Not the laser stuff, not the CO2 stuff, not the mantis stuff. They use something to put the gun out of battery slightly(ex. piece of cardstock for a handgun, chapstick for an AR) and just run trigger presses while focusing on form and what the dot/sights are doing. Its unironically good enough, especially once your past the baby tier level of "how do i pull the trigger decently" and dryfire becomes more about coordinating draw, press, sight alignment, press, swap target, press.
>just blast some 5.56 afterwards
I've also heard that but supposedly shooting .22lr through your nonserviceable 5.56 silencer will eventually ruin it unless you use some kind of lead-dissolving solvent or an ultrasonic cleaner.
So buy a serviceable silencer? I use a CMMG Bravo with a SilencerCo Sparrow. If you’re really worried just get a dedicated upper and who gives a shit it’s a training rifle. One is none and all that.
>just buy a conversion kit with another upper and silencer bro
Literally no point when a S&W M&P 15-22 is like $500. Most people want to shoot 22lr to save money.
You shout 22lr at home or are you like Mike Glover and think Dryfire is bad?
I’m about to move out of the city and am thinking of getting a 22lr upper until I build a proper range. But in my current liberal city life the Mantis has been a great.
>buy mantis >training now consists of putting on socks >(black thigh high for late night concealment factor) >sprinting and sliding on hardwood >shooting at objects with gun canted like im a titanfall pilot
speed is life
They're fine if you're new to pistols and rifles and are trying to perfect your trigger pull. Once you get those fundamentals down then you've basically grown out of the need for a Mantis. At that point a shot timer and dry fire will take you further. High level shooters don't train with a Mantis because relying on the algorithm builds bad habits if you want to improve speed.
You might need to set the sensitivity to a lower threshold. I have no problem with the mantis on my striker fired handgun, but I found an empty magazine with the mantis at the bottom of the magazine works the best.
As for the Blackbeard, it is very inconsistent and I see no need buying the new magazine with the built in mantis, even with the 50 dollar trade in. I simply use my shot timer set to par time.
Probably due to validation in academic sports journals, greater precision, and algorithms.
For example, in sleep research you used to be able to buy a philips actigraphy sleep tracking watch for 2k when a Fitbit did pretty much the same thing. However, Fitbit was not validated against EEG and Fitbit did not publish the algorithm.
Yeah
yeah
How much does it cost? How much does a good airsoft copy of your gun cost? There's your answer
The whole point of using Mantis instead of airshit is that you can train with your real gun’s trigger, optics, furniture, etc.
moron
Cool to shoot gun and laser comes out
Any way to get the simulator to work with a big TV or do I really have to set up a projector and screen
It should work on a TV just fine. Don't let the gaya bring you down.

I have the pistol version and noticed this happening, stopped aiming and just walked the laser in, need to pick up the IR
Yeah that’s a problem but I’ve heard some laser targets that are out there only like red lasers and won’t work with IR.
Waste of money. Probably only the dumbest motherfrickers on the planet would buy this
kino
I have the pistol one and the app fricking sucks. For whatever reason it doesn't always register shots, so it runs the drills most of the time.
However the targets and laser cartridge are very useful for dry fire. Would recommend picking up cheaper equivalents from someone else though.
*ruins the drills most of the time

IIRC the ar-15 one resets the trigger for you, so it may be worth it just for that. Although see if you can just buy that and not the whole kit.
I think I had that issue as well, although it's been a while since I've used the app.

It fits in my radian and adm.
I need to get the lighting in the room perfect or it registers ghost shots
I want this and the upcoming model for AKs so my gf and I can play laser tag with real guns.
I get more use out of a gas blowback airsoft rifle for which I don't have any pellets, and it was cheaper.
broke inside of 2 months, many such cases

Meme garbage, just buy ammo. .22 conversion kit for AR if you’re poor
>.22 conversion kit for AR
Are these actually worth it or will they clog your gas port and muzzle device with lead fouling?
>conversion kits are cheap
just blast some 5.56 afterwards

unless it works like the Starship Troopers one I aint interested
I want the AK model, but I have no idea how they're gonna make it fit in most existing makes of AKs that exist on the US market.
I have the non-laser one. (You basically shoot at your iPad) It works with anything that has a pic rail. They also, have barrel adapters and clamps.

but you can literally use it as a dry fire shot timer (if the damn thing actually registered your shots correctly)

why is this so much more expensive?
Ppl pay good money for scat

Never heard of it
