Yeah they're dragging it to moscow apparently

"Captured" implies the vehicle is in some kind of operable state or could brought to an operable state by repairs.

This tank is 100% completely inoperable and could not be made operable even with American help repairing it.

I thought captured just meant you just took it

          Anonymous

It means you took it in a state such that you could make use of it. If it's just detritus, it's not a capture. Like you if you picked up the discarded pin from an enemy grenade, you wouldn't say you captured it.

            Anonymous

Or a better example, you capture enemy soldiers if you take them alive. If you're just bagging their bodies after the fight, you didn't "capture" anyone.

This comment is so funny because I know for a fact that if you saw footage of this being hit you would be saying that it's just disabled and could easily be repaired

Black person, the hull has peeled open like a can opener in multiple places and entire sections of it are missing.

The treads are completely gone, along with most of the road wheels.

The whole thing has been scorched by fire to the point that nearly all of the paint has burned off.

          It's not a tank, it's a wreck.

            damage to suspension doesn't matter

i'm gonna bet it was mobility killed - presumably by a mine and the scuttled by the crew

For me, the proof that we needn't worry about vatniks learning anything from our vehicles is ironically enough, the existence of decent MoD demonstrators.
Even when the few remaining Russoid brains come up with good designs, the oligarchs say hell no, I can't sail the Mediterranean on that, take a hike.

It's an average, vanilla propaganda win. Ukraine is littered with destroyed vehicles from both sides. They aren't hard to recover. A massive propaganda win would be if they captured a depot or something and had a bunch of them they could drive in the parade.

There's two wars at play here, a propaganda war where Ukraine is convincing the west to give it more weapons and the war war where those weapons get used to fight Russia.

It's in Ukraine's interest to play up the impact weapons will have before they reach the battlefield. To convince the West to send more. And in Russia's interest to play down the impact they'll have to convince the West to send less

Most western countries loathe Russia now and hope it loses so the propaganda isn't necessary to convince the West to send weapons

Would hundreds of M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks "secret sauce" DU armor plates with supporting vehicles and air support will save them from getting destroyed by FPV drones striking them from above? As this war in Ukraine has FPV drones can wipe out an entire mechanized column without caring what type of vehicle you are since they always strike from above.

US has had robust anti-drone tech and training deployed for a decade now. The Asymmetric Warfare Group identified drones a threat in 2015, prior to their heavy use by ISIS, and so the US was able to integrate training and EW counter-measures well before they came into contact with ISIS drones in Iraq. All that isn’t to say that the US isn’t doing more research about how to defeat larger swarms or make anti-drone measure more robust in a peer conflict, but it is to say that the US had identified drones as an issue in warfare well before the war in Ukraine ever started.

Let's say Russia somehow manages to capture both Kramatorsk and Sloviansk before 2025, then what? Ukraine will be armed with f-16s by then so it will be completely impossible for Russia to advance if they somehow managed to capture those cities.

Victory is returning Russian colonies back to Russia, that were given away by political mistake in moment of weakness. Lugansk, Donbasin and Crima already taken. Rest of Black sea coast taken soon. All cities founded by Russia, much population Russian. Russian history there, these lands can't be abandoned. And connect to Moldova enclave of Russians also.
This means biggest Black sea power, means challenge Turkey, help Armenia. Means can force open Bosphorous, connect to the ocean, help friendly Arab countries. Counter US hegemony over Europa. Good for everyone European.

Lmao, like all intelligent Russians and future Soviets, he fled because the country was a dangerous shithole. He moved to the US precisely because it was a mecca for aviation, seeing as how the Wright brothers inventions are what propelled Sikorsky into aviation in the first place.

                >After World War I, Igor Sikorsky briefly became an engineer for the French forces in Russia, during the Russian Civil War.[35] Seeing little opportunity for himself as an aircraft designer in war-torn Europe, and particularly Russia, ravaged by the Bolshevik Revolution and Russian Civil War, he emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York on March 30, 1919.
Lol, lmao even. Sikorsky is an American success story through and through, just like all of our scientists when they had to flee their shitholes for the peace, prosperity, and access to funds that only the US could provide.

This is because Russia subscribes to the concept of dominating people. If you were Ukrainian, you are Russian. If you were Serbian, you were Russian. If you were Czech, you were Russian. Anything formerly under the Soviet Union is "Russian" to them. They cannot fathom the idea that identities change to the host nation most favorable to the person. Nobody would actually want to be Russian if they had control of it, so Russians desperately need to force that identity on people.
