When will this junk stop being a trend? It will go down as being worse than asbestos. calling it now

When will this junk stop being a trend? It will go down as being worse than asbestos. calling it now
You forgot
> gets warped by water
What are the supposed advantages over fitted wood planks then?
they can make it out of repurposed plastic medical waste for cheap, much cheaper than wood.
My house has them and theyre pretty bad but also low on the list of things i need to change in my house so ill probably keep them for 15 more years
>looks like ass
its fine
>breaks easily
no it doesnt
>emits toxic VOCs
fresh out of the factory, sure. unless your floors are 150F it isnt emitting shit.
>sheds micro plastic dust from daily contact
if/when saw cutting it yes. otherwise no it just doesnt.
>when will this junk stop being a trend?
probably never? cheap, can be installed and removed in hours, dead stupid easy to clean, can frick it up and not feel bad, and looks miles better than anything else at its pricepoint. you sound like a pussy that has never actually had to deal with alternatives like trying to repair fricked up hardwoods, linoleum, poorly laid tile, etc. if you have good wood floors and keep them nice there is of course nothing better, for those not so lucky you drop down a floating floor for a couple grand and 3 hours of work and enjoy 90% of the aesthetic with zero maintenance. plastic floors stay winning.
like ass
>its fine
They look like cheap dogshit, but maybe you're accustomed to that
>and looks miles better than anything else at its pricepoint
I've found engineered hardwood flooring (AKA fancy plywood) and LVT both to look better, feel better, and if you look around for a deal they can still be had for around the same price point
Laminate flooring sucks balls and the only reason it exists is because for some reason brainlets can't distinguish the appearance of it from actual wood flooring. You're getting a poor value out of saving 100$ per room by installing laminate instead of the alternatives
I'm not defending that shit, but if you have real wood floors (like me) they are covered in polyurethane. Microplastics are a fear meme, but if not the only escape is the aluminum deck plates of your interstellar earth escape craft and cryo tube 'authentic' wool blankie.
>Microplastics are a fear meme
No they aren't. They frick up your lungs. Eating them probably has little to no effect on you, but dust-like plastic will wreck your lungs
This world is defined by erosion. Untold millenia turning everything around us into dust. Animals have been breathing that dust since the first lung fish made its first hypoxic gasp. You are well adapted to it, billions of years later. Not perfectly, but well.
gigantopithecus wasn't breathing in trashy contractor special flooring. people who work around dirt dust don't have respiratory problems, people who work with plastics do
There is a massive difference in an industrial environment where you might have gone home blowing black buggers for hours and normal household air.
t. occasional black blowing booger anon with mild lung scaring.
that's the stupidest thing I've read here all week. congrats
You are going to die. There is nothing you can do about it. It will be horrible. Welcome to life. Maybe do something useful in the time you have instead of living in fear.
>You are going to die.
Doesn't mean you should have to spend of your life gasping for air.
But it does mean you should take a realistic view about the amount of dust created by walking around on a household floor and its actual effects on you, an organism with a set of systems designed to pull shit up out of your lungs.
>aura of vinyl plank flooring pixie dust enough to make me asthmatic
are you also allergic to peanuts?
noooo frick quality of life! live in ze pod! eat ze bugz!
A thousand years ago people died of "natural" causes at age 45 and we thought it was normal.
Bullshit
They also are spongy when you walk on them. And high pressure point contacts like chair legs break through the surface and leave a mark. Fortunately, the mark looks like a knot. I did an epoxy basement floor with them. They were the only economical alternative.
You should get together with the PEX fear monger.
I guess you’ve never spent any time in a car, then. That new car smell? That’s off-gassing plastics.
Your pirated screenplay you laser printed out to read in public view at starbucks? Literal PVC micro dust with mutagenic pigment.
We’re not talking about cars anon. Buying new is moronic anyhow, not to mention you spend far less time in your car than your home
B-b-but you to,d me to get out of my home from all the gas fumes, CO and CO2, dust and dust mites, the formaldehyde off-gassing, the radon, and now microplastics.
So i’m sleeping and driving around all day in my new car.
yo
>Spend $500 and a Saturday
Increase selling price by $6000
Who the frick cares about the downsides, that's the next owners problem.
>sheds micro-plastic dust
no
any knows what floor material is this? was kinda soft, but not too much and nice to walk on.
Looks like a 'soft step" roll vinyl, basically has a thin layer of foam-like expanded material that creates a cushioning effect.
It's nice to walk on and quiet, but a big drawback is that it can compress more or less permanently under furniture and apppliances and can snag/tear when something digs into it. Also tends to get damaged easier/quicker by hot stuff that falls on it because that foamy layer will instantly collapse and leave a depression even when the top layer stays intact.
t. had tenants who spilled boiling grease all over it every time they cooked.
>shitposting about laminate flooring
trolls put at least a modicum of effort behind their irrelevant, timewasting posts. this is just sad. saged and shag carpet stapled to brazilian cherrywood-pilled
>sounds like you're walking on, well, plastic
>creaks
I only ceramic like a proper thirdies
How is laminate for a bedroom? Torn between laminate and lino
Laminate causes allergy symptoms in 99% of humans. It is killing people by infiltrating the lungs with a chemical that isnt truly understood
