1911 feels fun. 9mm anything is cheap to shoot.. wheelguns generally feel like they have a better single action trigger than just about anything else for the price especially if your shooting single action…. 22lr is good if you want to practice shooting a bunch and aren’t made of money…. What do you want to do with a gun?

I think it’s a good update of the M9. Rail, replaceable front sights, optional optic mount that’s not great but mounts an optic well enough. The change to the grip depends on your hands but since it’s smaller you can use the optional wrap around in the box to make it similar to the original grip profile. The wrap around is superior since you get way more aggressive texture compared to a standard frame. You can swap back and forth all you want, I change my opinion on the Vertec (new) and Old grip monthly.

I think you should stick with what you know, once you have your trusty M9/92X you can buy more handguns and see improvements/disadvantages etc. I carry a 92 or 96 every day, I prefer it because of its DA/SA, carrying hammer down makes me feel better

Can you tell me more about this wrap? When I tried the 92X grip today I noticed my pinky was... a little smushed? to keep it on the grip? Like it wasn't full on not fitting, but it was a little cramped. Does the wrap help with that?

I like that it had a rail. No interested in mounting anything at the moment. Want to keep things simple, but would like to keep my options open for later as well.

Bottom left, M9A3 with vertec grip (straight backstrap) with hogue fingergrooves, right of it is the 92X wrap around, right of that is the 92X grip. Top is the standard grip, note the shape of the backstrap.

Nothing should really interfere with your pinky unless you were handed a compact. coincidently compact grips are inbetween the top and bottom pistol, they're shorter.

The 92X wrap around mimics the top grip. It actually has more texture to it than most standard grip 92s. Hogue makes the M9A3 wrap around which makes the backstrap rubber if you wanted extra softness if you have baby hands (or are shooting .40 S&W).

Go for the 92x RDO (optic ready 92x) or a langdon tactical 92 elite if you can spring for it (the m9 you shot at the range's hotter sister). but at least try a few striker handguns as well

I'm in the Phoenix area, but MLS Arms sends all their stuff to a shop. I'd say give them a call. They primarily do basic gun lsmithing, sight installs, and laser engraving. The lead time goes between two weeks to two months though, so bear that in mind.

Mine works pretty well, though some Redditor claims theirs fricked up after 20k rounds. If it's that big an issue, M9 barrels are everywhere for sale. I plan to replace mine with a threaded barrel so I can put a suppressor on it.

glock 17/19 in gen 3 or later is the safest possible bet you can make. aside from that, you can totally get another beretta 92, they're not exactly hard to find. you could go with any number of 1911 offerings, the cheapest decent option being a rock island armory variant. canik is a popular-ish new player who seems to make good shit, just don't expect it everywhere. as for compacts, springfield armory hellcat and sig p365 are the best on the market, frick anyone else who tells you different because they've probably never used either. if you want a really cheap .22 trainer, kel-tec P17 is a fantastic offering that will eat basically anything you put through it for $200 or less.

    >don't get a meme caliber gun, stick to 9mm/.45ACP/.380/even 10mm
    >don't get a meme gun, you don't need a dan wesson CZ collab at $3k for your new pistol
    >don't get ANYTHING under $150, it's not fricking worth it EVER
    >don't get ANYTHING from a pawn shop unless you already have some decent working guns, you're likely overpaying as it is
    >don't do a private sale, go to an FFL and let them walk you through the process for the first time

      "safest possible bet"
If OP ends up liking Glocks then that's fine, but personally I find glocks to be way over rated. The only objective upside is the aftermarket, but that doesn't make them worthwhile to me.

        >but personally I find glocks to be way over rated
agreed, as someone who uses glocks. but i've never once heard someone say that they're poor quality or subpar. for an off the shelf gun, they are absolutely among the best you can get, and they're extremely popular and relatively affordable. yeah the whole aftermarket thing is cringe sometimes with the zoom zoom gucci glawks but whatever. same shit with ARs. i've always been a proponent of "glock in 9mm, model of your choosing, with a 5.56 AR then anything else you want" model.

          Anon you're responding to here

I'd say they're subpar in a lot of subjective ways, and some ways that I feel are almost objective. For instance I bought a 92FS that's been more mechanically reliable than my fully factory glock, which is testament to the fact that glocks are not as reliably reliable as they claim.

Beretta 92fs are the likely the best pistol you can get at the price they sell for. If you want to get one of the more expensive variants, other pistols are a little better because 92s don't really excel in one category.

Yes but not more than comparable pistols. CZ basedboy shit have slightly better triggers and reliability is the same as every other well-regarded duty pistol.

Different anon here, but I've been looking at Beretta M9/92s for a bit and there are a shitton of options out there. Can anyone recommend me one for the following criteria?
    >nightstand/plinking gun
    >15+ round capacity
    >9mm (for reloading, don't want to dick with other calibers)
    >ability to mount a red dot and flashlight down the line
    >blued or black finish, no desert tan

You might want to look into a Centurion then, they have a full sized grip but a shorter barrel so it's compact but you can still run 15 or 18 round mags in it. Langdon makes one and also his RDO mountings are said to be better than Berettas.

92X RDO is basically an M9A4 in black.

They made the M9A3s in black, FDE, and even some rare OD green ones, but there's no red dot mount on them.

I'd say look around. Are you using this as a CCW piece or a target shooting/home defense weapon? If the latter, you might be better served looking for a standard 92X.

I got mine for like 650, but sometimes you can find them around for about 650-700.

          >and had it nitrided
Where? Frick cerakote, all my homies hate cerakote

          Gonna add to this:

I'm not a fan of cerakote because the idea of paint flaking off while my gun is doing normal gun things(the slide rubbing against other metal creating flaking similar to brake pads and a rotor) disgusts me slightly.

Get a Beretta. You've already put 500 rounds through one. You're familiar with the system. Plus if you were in the military, you got an old clapped out M9, a fricking new one, or even a used one will be way better than the 40 year old piece of shit you were using. Or go even nicer and get a LTT Elite.
