Living at a campsite

I'm starting a new job this week and don't have anywhere to stay, too poor for hotels. Have any of you tried living at campsites for extended periods of time?

>wild camp, live in van, etc
I want to be able to shower before work

£15 a night for a campsite is much cheaper than £70 for a hotel

How would you live in a van? Sleeping in car parks etc?

Not for extended periods of time, but one week for a conference at the longest. I like staying at camp sites if I'm going to the city, since it's so much cheaper than a hotel. Set up my tent, have power, and keep some stuff in my car.
I believe I was the only one at the campsite who wore a jacket and tie in the morning, and I know one taxi driver thought I was bullshitting him when I told him to drive way out of town to the campsite after a late night bout of drinking.
Honestly, the biggest thing is finding a campsite with good facilities. Find a place where the showers look alright, there are some seriously grim ones out there. You can probably charge your electronics at work just fine, but it's nice if there's a power coloumn or something like it near your ten. A communal kitchen isn't bad either if you prefer to cook your own meals over eating out.

nah depending on where you are a hostel can be at most 40€ a night. worst case scenario you're in a big tourist city and it's tourist season in which case it could be like 70€

I lived 10 days at an almost empty camp site while an employer was looking for a place for me to stay (it was a remote island with low population).
Was okay for most part. Had to use garbage bags as tarp over the tent the days it rained. Was 3 km to the closest grocery shop but at least it gave me something to do after work.

Salmon farming on an island in Norway. The pay, work rotation and opportunity was too good to pass up so i didn't mind simple living for a bit.

find a nearby national forest or blm land, you can live out of your car for free there, get a planet fitness or Y membership for showers

Only a week in the summer as a part of cadets, you'll really crave a cold shower or AC if it's the summer. In the winter time you feel more "dirty" and really want a hot shower/heating. I'd find a way to sleep in your car.

I personally would car camp, for showering a gym or scrubzz shower wipes (we have them in the US, idk if you'll have them in the UK) work p well

worst come to worst you can GI shower with baby wipes.

I have an SUV set up as a camping rig (cooking, electronics, mattress etc) so plan would be to use the campground as a place to park up which is consistent and undisturbed and has showers. I travel and sleep in my car quite frequently but finding a spot where you won't be disturbed by other people is honestly a pain sometimes, especially if you aren't out in the sticks like where ill be working.

Check this out for free places to stay overnight - https://www.campercation.com/
I'm using it next week as im in a different town for work for a few day. Just gonna sleep out of my little van in a pub car park, shower at the gym and use the money saved on not paying for a campsite on meals at the pub.
