From what I understand
Cavour is a light aircraft carrier, a classic CVL, with a squadron of F 35 plus support helicopters
Trieste is an amphibious ship/helicopter ship that HAS the capability of carrying only helis, helis+F 35 or just F 35. But it also can land troops, tanks, has a hospital so it is an entirely different ship, something like the Mistral or more like the Izumo after the F 35 refitting
The Garibaldi will keep the Harrier wing until decommissioned
I think I saw this thing under construction a couple years back when I was in Italy, maybe 2018.
Cool that the F-35B is enabling a bunch of countries to turn their LHDs into light carriers.
No problem at all
But YOU should look up what makes aircraft carriers aircraft carriers, and not just any old flat deck with a covered box for keeping jets in
>carries aircraft >launches and recovers aircraft >hurrr durrr it's not an aircraft carrier
YOU should check your sources amigo

> Sailing for Ascension Island on 25 April 1982, Atlantic Conveyor carried a cargo of six Wessex helicopters from 848 Naval Air Squadron and five RAF Chinook HC.1s from No. 18 Squadron RAF. At Ascension, she picked up eight Fleet Air Arm Sea Harriers (809 Squadron) and six RAF Harrier GR.3 jump jets.

>doubling down on ignorance
That's called being thrifty, they didn't say it was an aircraft carrier. Just like the italians don't say it's a carrier, it's a LHD.
I win the argument.

YOU should check your sources amigo
Its a lhd that can act like a carrier if needed
But it will mostly be used as a heli carrier imo
Will the Garibaldi be kept?
rumor has it it will be converted to a satellite launch platform
Its like 40 years old
So the Cavour and Trieste will remain, great
Yes i dont think italy has men or the need to operate 3 carriers
And garibaldi is very small and as i said pretty old
Forgot to ask, which ship will be the flagship? Cavour or Trieste?
I think cavour
Nice. Although the Trieste is larger, they want the attack aircraft carrier as the flagship which is understandable
hol up
Can't be bothered to check but from what I remember it will replace the Garibaldi and maybe 1 of the old San Giorgio class
Posting some more Italian Navy
That's the Frecce Tricolori
F 35B, Marina Militare, kino anchor roundel

I think it's being built somewhere near Naples, if that's where you went
LHD with a ramp
They planned on using fixed wing aircraft from the start
Doesn't matter
It's still fit out like an LHD with a ramp
Wtf is YOUR problem butthole?
