Most, if not every, state has state laws prohibiting unregistered NFA items. Therefore, while you can refuse to show a tax stamp to police they have the authority to confiscate the item and arrest you under suspicion of possessing an illegal NFA item if you don't present a stamp. You can get the item back and the charges dropped by showing a stamp later, but it obviously isn't worth the major pain in the ass of being arrested and having your item temporarily confiscated.
This isn't wrong but isn't right the range I work at we don't ask to see tax stamps but if the ATF is in and they catch you without it we get an investigation opened which results in a fed sitting in our range for a month happened twice now still never ask to see anyone's tax stamps

Almost every state (barring I think a couple now doing the whole "sanctuary" thing) basically passed a law saying "all NFA items are illegal, unless you comply with the NFA" which means you're guilty by default if you can't show you have an exception, and state law enforcement can run with that if they want. Federal law doesn't govern state police here anon.
Second, any private citizen can set any standard they want on the use of private property except for certain protected classes, and even THAT doesn't apply if it's a private club not a public accommodation. They can't ARREST you for not comply of course, but they can boot you. They can ask for your stamp. They can ask for a picture of you in a chicken costume. You can tell them to get fricked, and then they can tell you to leave and not come back, and you have to decide if it's worth it.
Ideally there's enough competition that this isn't an issue, but in some places it might be.

You're not legally obligated to show your stamp to anyone who isn't a member of the ATF who is on duty.
If an RSO ever tells you they need to see your stamp tell them to go frick themselves. If they get pissy the worst they can do is ban you from the range, at which point you just find somewhere else to shoot (you don't want to be shooting there anyway). A member of non-ATF law enforcement cannot compel you to produce a stamp, but if they're a c**t they can detain you long enough for an ATF agent to arrive on the scene, so that's a slightly different scenario.
I have literally never seen an ATF agent (at least, a uniformed one) at any point when I have been shooting, either in a range or out innawoods (even in relatively popular shooting spots) and there is literally an ATF field office in my town. GlowBlack folk are fat homosexual morons but even they're usually not stupid enough to hassle people about their guns while they're at a shooting spot miles off the nearest paved road in the middle of the woods with no witnesses outside of cell/radio coverage.

No, in my journey of building a PCC from scratch, I didn't know there are certain requirements for buffer and buffer spring come to find out if you use AR carbine spring and buffer it will slam fire two or three rounds before it stop. Testing this out at a public range with no RO and people were intrigued by it and couple of people test the slam fire and had a lot of fun with it.
The PCC is working safely now, it needed heavier buffer and a AR-10 carbine buffer spring to have the timing correctly.
I never had a range officer come by, but after finishing an 80% lower I had a trigger pin that was walking out after 20 rounds or so and one time was at a local range and had forgotten about fixing it and apparently when one side of the trigger tilts you can rip off a burst (and I did) and the guy next to me gave me a wide eyed look like he just saw the devil lol I showed him the issue and we had a laugh.
Don't go to ranges, just go to open land that's safe to shoot on. I've dealt with these morons who breathe lead all day for minimum wage, they're moronic and don't actually let you train. are range officers an indoor range thing? Never been to an indoor range. The one I use there's nothing of the sort. I can do rapid fire mag dumps all day if I wanted to. Not that I usually do that. I usually save my one or two magdumps for the end before I leave.
Most rod and gun clubs and private ranges will have one or more, indoors for general safety and outdoors to prevent morons from skeeting all over the 5 stand users and etc, public ranges generally don't unless state law allows for it
