learning to shoot alone

Has anyone else just gone to the range alone and shot for the first time? As in you never had anyone teach you to use the gun? My younger brother was gonna help me if we bought an AK together but he keeps putting it off. Might just buy it myself and go shoot some. I know basic range etiquette and an AK can be fired by literal morons but still. Any advice? Assuming I was going to do this.

Also are krinkovs worth the price?

You definitely want to have someone who unironically knows what they're doing to teach you.
If you don't, you can easily turn a beginner's mistake into a bad habit that'll take 10x as long to get rid of as it did to learn it.

Depends on how seriously you want to learn to shoot.
If you only care about hitting a target then just go out and do it yourself.
If you really want to learn how to shoot, and you don't know anyone who can train you.
Then go make a trip out of a proper training program.

My first time shooting ever was as a young adult (24yrs old) I bought an ak and after popping a shot or two went ahead and bumpfired the rest.
Full firey America feelings shooting into dirt Inna woods with orange foamies that I didn't even put in correctly.
Quickly bought a pistol, now I'm 31 and still love going to the range. Its therapeutic and amazing.

It's very easy to figure out the basics, but teaching yourself is doing it the hard way. You're capable of learning it all yourself but it will take time, ammo, and very likely frustration.

Me. Bought my first gun, a Ruger 10/22 and learned to shoot and service it on my own. The internet is awesome. Now I own a handful of guns and am a pretty good shot with rifles. Mediocre with handguns.

I did. Had a rightie family, but none had guns growing up, so I was never taught to shoot. I just bought a 9mm pistol when I was like 25 and went to the range and learned as I went along.

It's really not that hard, read up on basic rules and then just go for it. Shooting a gun is one of the easiest things in the world

I have pretty good groupings with handguns but always to the left of target. Am I swaying the gun as I pull the trigger?

Could be your finger position on the trigger, you might be pulling the off the center axis which is going to change the direction of the barrel.
Maybe experiment by changing which finger joint or phalanx you put on the trigger, it all depends on the length of your finger if you pull off center too.

For example I used to pull slightly to the right, and I was using the furthest phalanx to put pressure on the trigger, I've since changed to putting the first joint on the trigger instead. This is quite close to the knuckle but I have very big hands so this works better for me.

My hands are a little smaller than average, I'll play around and see which joints I can comfortably use. Pretty sure it'll just be the last one though.

Get a laser boresight or a cheap red dot for your dryfire practice. It'll help show you how much you're pulling off target while you're training muscle memory.

Alright, been wanting a red dot anyhow.

For a Krink you're probably looking at $5k minimum so unless you're a rich collector not really. Most people just cope with a Zastava M92

When I learned to drive i just grabbed the keys and went for it. Never drove before and knew nothing besides what I saw on TV.
Just figure it out while you go. I mean trial and error can't be that bad with a gun.
