I recommend welding goggles when testing and using. It only takes a second.
You can buy laser pointers at pet shops and use that as the housing. Not sure why you need a transistor, but whatever.
Resistors and other electronic parts aren’t easy to find anymore unfortunately, I have to order stuff online. Chinese soldering irons perform fairly well, I see no reason for a beginner to invest in a $500 Weller.
If you haven’t soldered before, find a PCP with a at least 30 holes in it and solder wires to it. You want it to form a nice slope to the wire, if its floating like a bubble you have a cold joint which is bad. It’s probably best you find another video showing how to solder.
thanks, I have a friend that will learn me/solder stuff with me so it should be fine. does welding goggles really protect from laser tho? at least it will be better than nothing I guess. for some parts, as you said I got some from china and the resistors from a local shop.

Fuck no, the laser OP linked to can set things on fire. If you're gonna mess with that kind of laser, then save up for a decent pair of laser safety goggles.
Your eyes are worth a lot more than the 80 something dollars these goggles cost.

Seriously, buy some laser safety googles, ones specifically intended for lasers.
They're not expensive, and you're a fucking retard if you don't use them.
It takes the briefest blip of a laser reflecting off the tiniest little shiny thing, suddenly you're down an eye permanently, possibly both eyes.

Laser googles won't fully protect you. The safest bet is to use a VR headset connected to a camera.

I once took apart a laptop DVD drive and the laser was "unsalvageable", there were 3 mirrors to reflect the laser and i think adjust the wavelength or smth
the diode was literally a part of the chasis, it's hard to describe but at that point it's better to buy one online or smth for any practical use
I have two dvd drive to salvage so if i'm at least a bit lucky it should be fine.
video says how to build laser from dvd drive. proceeds to buy all the components and does not build laser from dvd drive.
It's one of those fake DIY videos.

OP, a lot of people will tell you that you need laser glasses, and it's generally good advice, but for what it's worth if you're careful about
1) always pointing the laser in a safe direction
and
2) only powering the laser when it's pointed in a safe direction
then you'll be fine without goggles as long as your laser is around ~500mw or less (above that, reflection can be an issue even on ordinary materials).
That said, you really should just get the goggles since you're new to this and there's a non-zero chance you'll fuck it up
