Lancet-3

How is this little Russian electric drone taking out western tanks with maximum payload of three kilograms (6.6 lb)? Why are we not able to shoot them down?

>>In late 2022, multiple videos appeared on social networks showing Lancet drones striking a variety of Ukrainian military targets, such as air defence systems, self-propelled howitzers, tanks and military trucks. Among the targets damaged or destroyed were S-300 missile systems, a Buk-M1 missile system, a T-64 tank, Western-supplied M777 and FH70 howitzers, as well as M109, AHS Krab and CAESAR self-propelled howitzers. On 4 November 2022, a Gyurza-M-class gunboat of the Ukrainian Navy was damaged by a Lancet drone, the first time a Lancet attacked a naval target during the war.

Soviet ones? yeah, they're pretty fragile
      >military trucks
      thin skinned

Actually OP is referencing those Leopard 2A4 and Leopard 2A6s, while the 2A4s are polish batch 5 leo 2s that have not received their armor package upgrades we see later batch leo 2a4s, those 2A6s were proper leopard 2s as you think of them.

However, while OP is right Lancet-3 was utilize to defeat the Leopard 2s, they weren't the sole reason. It appears that the lancets simply disabled or immobilized the tanks by hitting their tracks or hitting open hatched leopard 2s, which made them sitting targets for GRAD rocket MLRS attacks and kornet ATGM from infantry concealed or Vikhr ATGM from KA-52s that were stalking the armored columns the entire time.

      Thats what happened.

500$ FPV drones successfully destroyed about 10 Russian tanks in Zaporizhia, T-72, T-72B3 and T-80 types. It seems they are better suited for anti-tank role than 30000$ Lancet

Ok, but isn't this a big fricking deal that cheap ass fricking drones in general are wrecking tanks? Are these just RPGs mounted on model airplanes? I thought these tanks had explosive armor and the ability to shoot down incoming missles.

the FPV drones with RPG-7 warheads have far better pen.

Yes, which is why USA and Israel are developing laser weapons on light vehicles to deal with those small drones

You really believe 3kg lifts a turret without any sign of internal ammo going off. It is not a T72?
      moron

Yes the, pristine white smoke that follows isn't an ammunition secondary.
As a vatBlack person I would have assumed you'd be roughly familiar with what a tank having their ammunition compromised might look like.

Moreover, we have Lancet aftermath on similar strike locations on tanks with worse armor.
    Behold: a Lancet on a T64BV
Also in the smoke launchers then too lamo
