Post your favorite kit-outs and your main reason for/activity whilst PrepHole.
This is my bushcraft/survival setup. It does contain a few things that are crossed over from hiking/rucking but its slowly being refined. Not included are FAK, food, or spare clothes.
Not enough cutting tools
Ive spent a lot of money at survival supplies australia, they use to give away cool little freebies with each order but now they just throw in a Fresnel lens.
Old pic, as I’m not in the habit of taking gear knolling pics. I think this is from 2021. It was definitely a spring trip to the Sipsey Wilderness in Alabama. The tarp is different but you wouldn’t be able to tell anyway.
Post your lighterpack
I don’t bother with lighterpack because the concept of base weight is kind of dumb. The umbrella was taken because of a long road walk on day four with plenty of sun and high temps. The poles were taken because high winds were expected. The fleece was taken because of low temps on day one. I didn’t bring trekking poles.
All of that could change in a few weeks.
Weekend zombie survival with a little butchcraft.
A few suggestions.
Unless you specifically want to try and start fires with the magnifying glass, ditch it, and add 2 lighters in its place.
Bring one large knife, one small knife, and if you really want, one tree cutter (either hatchet, or saw.)
Add a maintenance kit, including super glue and sewing stuff.
That's really all I can suggest.
>Sling
Turbo based, and underappreciated. You can get decent sized stones to the speed of sound, and hit targets consistently with practice.
Classic
nice
THE MEME RETURNS
Can I join your weekend zombie survival team, Bep?
Better get rid of that zippo, tripgays find them very triggering
That depends… how fresh are those croissants?
Nah they’re fine for meme pics, but they suck to rely on.
>pretty much most reliable lighter of all time
>sucks to rely on
make sure to pick up another pack of newports and twelve bic next time your at the gas station
You got it backwards… 12pks of Newports and my half empty Bic will handle it just fine.
Lego!
Made daily. The phreshest.
wheres the one with the sawzalls
4u
I need to get an updated pic. Got a couple new sawzalls plus a cordless chainsaw, always on my kit for lumberjackin/ self defense/ rape perpetration. The one handed compact sawzall is great when you’re trying to cover that b***h’s screaming mouth with the other hand.
Imagine the rock hard monthly shits
I don't go out, I live PrepHole
either gay or moronic
are you Black folk moronic or pretending? ever heard of solar? that's the main reason I got electric tools in first place.
>live PrepHole
>batteries and electronics
Fake and gay
Do the trees have wall sockets where you live?
>I live PrepHole
>picture of house indicating he actually lives /in/
1 arrow?
Do you only bring one arrow?
maybe that homie a necron
do you use all the mouse traps in your trips?
Yes. Mice are the biggest danger that you face wile out.
Ah, a trapper.
this reminds me of this
PrepHole told me that if you don't brush your teeth for one day, then they will all immediately fall out, and if you don't store your food above ground in some kind of hanging system, then it will all get eaten immediately by hordes of mice. So had to make some changes to my loadout.
>I don’t brush my teeth
Fricking gross
>nice don’t exist
If you say so…
Dude do you not mind having poopy mouth? Why do you seem troubled with grooming yourself? Take care of yourself bro
>1 target point black arrow
Wtf is the point of that? You'll never find it if you miss and you'll only maim if you hit
Having cheap or shitty gear shows the world that you’re inexperienced. The inverse isn’t true.
Correction: having cheap gear shows you're frugal or on a budget.
Nope. Eventually you’ll realize you need something of quality.
>budget
Save up for a year and buy something nice. Do it a few times.
>nothing can be good quality unless it's expensive
>just stay /in/ for a year while you save up to consoom the expensive stuff
lol, no
>nothing can be good quality unless it's expensive
It’s not that cut and dry, but it’s generally true. There are a few exceptions of course, but you’re not going to discover some diamond in the rough. You’re going to get what you pay.
>just stay /in/ for a year while you save up to consoom the expensive stuff
Not what I said nor what was implied. Keep going out with your crappy gear. But posting about it just marks you as a newbie.
>you don't have to stay /in/ but you have to replace your budget gear
>even if the budget gear works fine you have to consoom expensive shit because that's how you get experience
Absolutely needing expensive gear is a skill issue and the hallmark of an inexperienced newbie
Your budget gear is budget for a reason. Like I said, there are exceptions, but nearly all of the time there are better options. Eventually you swap it out for something of a higher quality (however you define that).
>”because that’s how you get experience”
I said this isn’t true.
>you have to replace gear not because it doesn't work, or even because you get experience, but simply to spend more money on the same thing
Thank you for clarifying
>replace it with something of higher quality
Anon, just stop. I can’t be more clear than this. Why are you so angry about this?
>if you didn't spend a lot of money on it then you need to replace it with something more expensive because that makes it higher quality
Bro, come on. Just stop with the moron fake quotes. You’ve guessed wrong like half a dozen times. Stop embarrassing yourself.
>being expensive makes it higher quality
No, being higher quality makes it expensive.
Are you poor because your stupid?
>gear cannot be good quality without also being expensive
>if you're on a budget or spend your money wisely you're stupid
Hmm… see
>Like I said, there are exceptions, but nearly all of the time there are better options.
And
>There are a few exceptions of course, but you’re not going to discover some diamond in the rough. You’re going to get what you pay.
It’s been addressed twice and you chose to ignore it, but for the third time yes, cheap gear is generally shitty.
>muh budget
Cope.
>I didn't bother to find quality gear at a lower price point so that means there pretty much isn't any
>I'm not coping because I overspent, you're coping because you won't overspend
>I can’t deal with the fact that I’m a poor homosexual so I just cope by saying everything else is overpriced
>this budget gear has lasted for the entire two months that I’ve been going out so it’s great
>I took out a personal loan to buy a tent for 20k because price is directly tied to quality
>that trowel over there is fifty bucks, better pony up
>you only spent sixty bucks on a bag? That'll fall apart soon
>you've been using it for years? You're poor
A good tent is $300, and will last more than twice as long as you Lanshan. It will most likely have better features as well. I make my own shelters though.
A trowel is $20 for a name brand or like $5 for an AliExpress one. It’s one of the few exceptions.
Your $60 pack will be uncomfortable as shit and is the prime example of newhomosexualry. Cheaply made with zero quality control.
You don’t understand how terrible this shit is because it’s all you’ve known. Your opinion is moot.
>brand/model of bag not mentioned, only hypothetical price
>"HURR DURR IT BAD, SEE? SPEND MORE newbie"
As someone who has both expensive and cheap bags, you're the moronic one here
>$60 backpack good!
>trust me bro!
No
>this post was sponsored by REI
This. You can get quality gear at a lower price. It's called shopping around for good deals like Black Friday sales. Also used gear from normies selling at a discount after using once or twice.
>find things on sale
>that qualifies as “cheap or shitty”
Please try harder to follow along
I'm following along just fine. The people who say you always get what you pay for are wrong and I provided a few examples of this.
>I provided examples
While ignoring the three (3) times I explicitly stated that there are exceptions.
>while ignoring all the times I tried to move the goalposts
Yes
I’ll settle this for ya gays…
You can get by with cheap gear in any hobby. But expensive gear tends to last longer and be easier/nicer to use. However you have diminishing returns, let’s take this example:
Let’s say a $30 tent is a straight up 2/10 shelter. $50 might get you up to 6/10, $80 gets you a 7/10 tent, $150 gets you to 8/10, $250 gets you 9/10, and $600 gets you the gucci 10/10 tent
In the beginning, an extra $20 is good for 4 points, but it’s going to cost an extra $350 to get that final 1 point. There’e a sweet spot around the 8/10 range for most hobbies that will get any serious hobbyist through the day without much issue, and a 5-6/10 would work with a couple inconveniences. Starting with a 3/10 can make you dislike a hobby sometimes where a 5/10 would make it enjoyable enough to continue. Maybe one day you can snag a 9/10 for a good deal, and the 10/10 shit is for rich gays and pros wth sponsorships.
If you buy a 10/10 and don’t really use it like a pro, people will shit on you. Oh well. But if you can’t afford the 10/10, just remember that plenty of pros were running the 8/10 item until they got sponsors and didn’t have to pay on the stuff.
>tripgay
Didn't read. Go back to your containment thread.
You shut the frick up, homosexual. Bepis is a gentleman and a scholar.
>please notice me tripgay, I'm your biggest fan
You can frick off with him, groupie
I'm not a fan at all, I'm just pointing out the obvious, you cum gizzling new gay
>if you don't gargle tripgay balls like me then you're new
Your hypothetical example is shit. $150 doesn’t get you a tent that’s an 8/10. It lets you play the Lanshan lottery.
I don’t know tent prices. We can talk fishing rods or pliers instead?
Get a room you silly boys
see
If you weren’t a newbie you’d understand because you’d be using the same gear for year. It’s not about just randomly buying shit.
>pilot knife
Would ditch it & Buck 110 type for 5-6" hunting pattern fixed blade. Ditch Mora for decent thin blade food prep knife. Re: chopper, why?
>gransfors cuck
Regrettable
>agawa saw
Redeemed
What's the best way to carry arrows when I have a backpack on? I don't like bow quivers, and hip quivers tend to be loud and a bit unwieldy.
I put my bow quiver in the backpack sticking out until I'm in a comfy spot, then back on the bow it goes
I said it on another thread with that image: the bow looks like shit. Looks shorter than the small ones (64 inches) and seem to have even less than 24 lbs of power (way far from the ~60lbs used for hunting medium game). On top of that you have to provide arrows, strings, etc. A slingshot is way better, you just have to care for rubber bands and round stones. Also a leather sling is good too with practice.
>nobody clapped when I said this in another thread
>maybe they'll clap if I post it here, too
We don't care
clapped when I said this in another thread
Literally what OP did reposting the same image in different threads, and my point.
>lituhhrulhhly
Still don't care
Leather boot ID?
Lowa Tibet
you hunt with two cameras, a tripod and a trigger stick seems like a lot? what are you hunting, can't really see the gun...this setup is like you're going multiple (4?) days in the bush. is that sitka gear? ok big spender.
Camera gear is shared with Hunting buddy. Tripod works with rifle via shooting rest.
Why do these threads always contain more fake pictures than real ones? Serious question.
Because people here don’t do much beyond car camping and day hikes, and knolling pictures are more of a backpacking thing. “Lay all of you stuff out to see what you don’t really need” is pretty standard advice with regards to hikers who want to shed pack weight.
Let's see
>an axe
>a machete
>three knives?
>a bunch of rope?
>a compass?
I'm not seeing a first aid kit either
So…what’s an example of a high-end bag? I’m not talking about expense but quality and design — understanding that cost typically goes up with quality, I just want to see examples of great bags WITHOUT price weighing the quality judgement one way or the other.
anyone have any recs on a good compass that isn't chink shit?
Suunto or Cammenga
