Ladders in general are super dangerous but just like with electricity if you know what youre doing and always aware that you can die at any moment its not that bad.

    t. fallen down ladders 2-3 times.

Theyre dangerous because everyone uses them and people get way too comfortable using them. Most people are terrified of electricity so theyre careful when working with it. Once you get used to something and stop being scared of it is when it gets dangerous.

        Yeah thats what i meant.

Same with old guys in factories because they know to be afraid and have respect for machines.
Always aware of where they have their hands and when to stop.
Younger people think everything is safe for some reason.

do the 5-in-1s feel as stable as a traditional ladder? I just bought a house and was gifted a telescopic ladder and I would NOT trust my life on that thing, plus it's just not tall enough for my eaves and I don't have a place to store a huge ladder out of the weather

I've been climbing ladders every weekday for years, and those things suck. If by telescopic you mean one of those that collapses down to about 3 feet, but expands up to 15 or so, then yeah, they suck too. But as for storing ladders out of the weather, an aluminum ladder will last a lifetime in the weather. You might have to replace the rope every 5 or 10 years for a few dollars. Buy nice ladder mitts and pull them off to store indoors.

I have a 5 in 1 and a 22 ft extension ladder and I would use the 5-1 for almost every application. It's sturdier with a wider base and has far more use applications.

I have an extension/a frame combo for around the house. One story house so I can easily reach my roof to get up there

At work I had a 22' extension and they were fine too. Never felt sketchy. I had to side tie off to a utility pole a couple time to keep from falling over while doing midspan work. Like 5 times in 10 years

I took a good fall off a V ladder that's probably only 1.5m... fell out from under me as I was leaning to screw something in.
My shoulder (and other parts) hit long pieces of structural timber I'd left on the ground. Was winded for several minutes and I think it's fricked my shoulder a bit permanently.
I'm a lot more cautious about that shit now. Metal V ladders are light - don't try to lean too much while on them.
    Stay in school.

We have the rule that on a ladder you can only use one hand, extended maximum one meter, with one kilogram of force. It’s a pretty good rule but it sucks to get a yellow card at some work site because I didn’t use a fall guard at 6ft, and then come home to see my neighbour happily welding his gutters up on a 20 foot double extension ladder wearing flip flops
