just got a kitchen tool at the store

turns out it has a prop 65 warning on the back

now i have to melt the handle off at night so as not to annoy the neighbors and make a handle out of wood

this could have been avoided by simply making it with a wood handle

you know that manufacturers put this warning on everything because it's easier to do that than check the kalifornia list o' bad things.

yea but like what if they actually did properly match it

whatever finish you put on the wooden handle will be cancerous as well.

you know that it gets put on everything for liability (making it useless) right?

              >you know that it gets put on everything for liability (making it useless) right?

Making what useless? the tool or the finish, and in either case what are you claiming.

No the WARNING, you dunce. They stick it on everything. All the real dangerous stuff gets to hide behind the same label as bubblegum and tuna fish - which undermines the whole point.

Pretty sure that's exactly the point

They do actually put it on everything. You'll even see it on food items like green tea and wasabi peas because some plants are naturally more likely to absorb trace amounts of heavy metals from soil, and the companies slap the label on to cover their asses regardless of whether what the warning refers to is at a safe (negligible level) or not. Any utensil with plastic, especially that is used around food at potentially high heat, is going to have that label because moronic use (like burning it) could release some level of cancerous shit even if normal use is okay.

You're a moronic Black person. The reason Prop 65 warnings are on EVERYTHING is because that dumbass law made it so unless you prove, with laboratory certified testing, that every single chemical and material in your product is objectively not cancerous and you don't warn people you can be held liable.

Well guess what? Nobody is going to pay the money for that because its completely insane. What's the free alternative? Slap their dumbass wanting label on it that says idk maybe cancer inside not my problem. Californians are moronic

California hate is not grounded on logical thinking, so much as thinly veiled envy.

I don’t think people envy a state that has outlawed gas cars but doesn’t have a power grid capable of charging the small minority of electric cars they have right now.

I like living in Florida where the trees don’t cause cancer.

Most laws in California are ignored

Did you know it’s illegal to hire illegal immigrants in California… well frick 2/3rds of the workforce in the state would disappear overnight

It’s illegal to text and drive in California , how many people do you see looking at their phones while on the freeway, 80-90%?

We have cops here but their main task is generating revenue for the state not enforcing laws.

Illegal migrant raped a chick? He’s broke let it slide

Is it polished stainless steel? Polishing compound is p65

Get brushed stainless tools, more expensive… brushed textures show flaws or where the kid fricked up deburring

Parts are polished to hide flaws that’s why you see them at tjmaxx
