Just a public service announcement to my PrepHole bros: put on sunscreen, wear sun protective clothing when you're out there in midday hikes!
I was an idiot in my 20s, I was out there in just a hat, spending hours in the sun for over a decade. And now I've been diagnosed with skin cancer! They cut it out, doc said it has not spread, but once you have one of these carcinomas, there is an increased chance it will return. Sucks.

I’m 77 and have never worn sunscreen. Just a bit of tachycardia and nothing more.
Even without the cancer aspect, letting the sun just beat the crap out of you is going to age your skin at a faster rate, and sunburns on long hikes aren't fun.
I feel ya anon, when I was a teen I'd surf all day, and @ 24 I had basal cell I had to get removed and have a gnarly scar on my face

living in scandi as well? from what i recall the sun isn't as intense farther north on the globe
thats because your sun is weak, im a redhead from Australia and it will burn at 2hrs without sun protection but it depends on the weather
