    >Block 3
So from memory it'll have an AESA radar, HMCS, IRST and a bunch of other shit? Neat. I love the JF-17 like you wouldn't believe. Like a bunch of high Chinese engineers had a vision of the F-16 in 2005 or so, forgot it actually existed, and made it from scratch. It's so quirky.

I has come a long way, frankly it's one of those jets that goes under the radar.
It's currently being operated by 3 countries.
Sales are going to pick up, now that block 3 is here. Which fully brings it to a 4.5+ designation.
From 2 different engine options, multiple sensor suite a whole slew of eastern, western, Paki and a mishmash of armaments. It's one of a kind actually

        >From 2 different engine options
Have they actually finished that smokeless/decent life Chinese engine they were working on? Wow. Actually huge.

          Anonymous

They had fixed the smokey RD-93 early on in Block 2s with minor redisgn.
The important thing is that the 2 seater vairent JF-17B flew with the Chinese WS-13.
Also did you know, the plane was initially designed to use a western engine, that's why the air frame dimensions are a tad bit larger. (It could still be refitted with a western engine, granted someone wants to spend that money)

            Anonymous

            >WS-13

Isn't the same engine on the FC-31/J-35?
Why not just use the WS-15, which is the one that's actually new.

What are those things? I don't know anything about planes and come from a poor country. Pls explain.

The Azeri's could have done better honestly. I would have gone with the Rafale if it was an option, if not I would have gone with the J-10C.

i guess you missed that part when the french told the azeris to stop trying shit with armenia

Then I'd go with the J-10C

J-10 is a 100% Chinese product. China won’t sell that to nonaligned countries.

Chinks sold AA systems to Serbia, which usually flirts with the EU despite their chudness.

AA is different from planes. Russia sold S400s to turkey.

Yet they didn't seethe that Serbia from time to time flirts with the idea of joining EU.

There's a bunch of other countries who operate Chinese stuff that also have good relations with EU/US and so far they didn't seemed to give much of a shit.

Lmao imagine thinking China wouldn’t sell J-10s to literally anyone. A couple of year ago they wanted to sell them to Argentina and Colombia. You really think they wouldn’t sell them to the Azeri’s

they 100% would not sell J-10Cs to anyone not currently a client state.

Will this finally get the west to realize roaches aren't our friends quite the opposite in fact

Anon I'm pretty sure that, as long as you're NOT literally the US or UK, Pakistan/China would be pretty happy to sell you these. They're fricking anemic, they have really small payload and range. They're great, but in the same way that a loaded down late model F-16 is great. China would probably execute at least 50 million people if it meant Japan had an entire fleet of these things instead of F-35s.

It's about supporting the Chinese mil industry. The US flipped its shit when some lat am country wanted to buy these last year and offerforced that country F 16s instead.
Little Roachia is now supporting our greatest geostrategic rivals aerospace industry. Ttd.

The JF-17 also used AIM-9 as well.
Ask how and why the US allowed that.
Besides that it's nice to see how far this program has come.

Early JF-17 didn't have DSI, so they plucked the head honcho from the J-10 and J-20 who recommend they go DSI

            Anonymous

Now it's all matured to what the original design intended. The long ass Iterative cycle is a result of multiple western sanctions on the program and host countries.
What block 3 is now, was what the program intended to achieve 20 years ago. By just sourcing western tech, that did not happen because stuff (China).
So the program had to wait like a whole ass decade so the Chinese could catch up.

      >roaches aren't our friends
That feeling is mutual though. Supporting the PKK with literally everything you got plus sanctioning Turkey whenever they go after their interests showed that you don't see them as friends. Even during the most pro-western times, Turkey got fricked by the EU whenever and wherever possible.

moron here, why not just buy F-16s?
If the US is willing to sell them to Turkey, then surely they're willing to sell them to Azerbaijan, no?
Turkey also has a sizeable fleet of them, would probably be cheaper to train pilots and provide spare parts if needed from there.
Is the price their main concern?

You might not believe it but F-16 sales are already booked for the next 5 years or so.
The JF-17 gives the option of an absolute wide slew of kit that the F-16 could ever dream of. Air to Air, Ground and Sea. And then some.
All that comes with a do whatever you want.
Want to shoot down Indian jets? Sure
Want to bomb Rohingya refugees? Absolutely
Want to shoot down Iranian drones? Be my guest
Want to strafing boko haram? How much ammo do you want

Did you know Pakistan also fields a domestic BVR designated as FAAZ.
With a range of around 100km, it takes "heavy" inspiration from Chinese equivalent.
But the FAAZ - II varient has an estimated range of 180km. Which is now being merged with Turkish Gokdogan BVR program. So it will be an interesting missile combining western and Chinese tech

Firstoids don't understand that most thirdies can't afford F-16s and even if they can they could only afford a handful of them while most do not want political strings attached when it comes to their military purchases.

They don't want to be dictated by America and just want the hardware.

But i feel like the J-10C is much better if you REALLY wanna frick up Armenians and Iranians.
Couple that with some J-10D's to EW the frick out of their AA and you're golden.

    What's this mean for Armenia?

      Anonymous

That means Azerbaijan can use Turkish and Pakistani-made munitions freely. Including cruise missiles and long-range gliding bombs. Before, Azerbaijani bombers needed elaborate upgrades on Russian junks solely for dropping some guided bomb. Pic related, Azerbaijani Su-25 modified for fielding Turkish HGK-84

This is going to be huge problem for Armenia because they lost two last wars to miniature bombs dropped from propeller drones. Now they need to face actual bombs & cruise missiles
