Arc’teryx costs half the price, has better down, and more down after looking at reviews. I haven’t even looked at the GOATed Feathered Friends equivalent, I’m sure it costs less than Arc’teryx and is even better.
I would never buy anything other than dead bird hard shells.
I love my feathered friends stuff, I have a down puffy, two sleeping bags and a pillow I use at home from them.
They are all amazing and I genuinely recommend them.
>I don't really get the hype with down jackets. >I have a good layering system
No you don't, otherwise you'd know what a down jacket is for. Down jackets are for when you stop and take a break or for sitting around camp.
Canada Goose is trash and was only mentioned by

likely as a joke.

into the trash it goes. at least they only used a half-nig to advertise this one.
posted an image of a Decathlon with the same name as the one in the OP (Forclaz MT500), but which is of inferior cut, filled with lower-quality down and doesn't have a hood. I have no Idea why Decathlon gives so many of their articles the same exact name.

When I see such a person near mein trails, I take out my radio and describe person to sheriff's dispatch. "Needs assistance" or "please contact". Yes, straight into dispatch, low power. This means sherriff, some sus mathmatician looking to move drugs or break into cars at a trailhead needs you to run his ID.
I haven't checked PrepHole stores for a few years and now I'm looking again and absolutely every single fricking store is advertising with Black folk what the frick they don't even fricking buy this shit let alone use it
I actively don't want to buy stuff from these stores now
which ones don't advertise using Black folk now? It's always been a top indicator of a brand going to shit
Best fluff on the market is the Montbell plasma 1000 imo.
But there is no best, it’s expensive and less durable than other brands. Everything has pros and cons. But it’s the lightest and warmest with insane 1000fp

Canada Goose.
A while back Patagonia made a limited edition 1000fp jacket. The thing with limited editions is that often they are marketing stunts and aren't profitable (hence why they only produce a limited number). Quality was probably excellent however.

i bought one several months ago and iirc they were all ballpark $300 for the same fundamental 850 fill power thing. the option of having a hood bumps it by $50 for some reason.
/out/ists are gonna hate me for saying this, but if you're going to drop that much on one just go with Patagonia since their warranty is unbeatable.
I don't really get the hype with down jackets. I bought one last year on clearance at MEC and I've hardly worn it. It's pretty warm and cozy, but I have a good layering system so I don't really have any need for it except as an extra mid-layer on super cold days (e.g. -25 C or lower). I guess it's nice to be able to stuff your pack with a super light yet warm jacket just in case.
If they get wet, well... and what man says, "my arms are cold". Then there is the ripping part. I pre fer a layer appproch with a themal shirt, flannel or wool sweater, down or synth vest, waterproof shell. Only in extreme cold and standing do I find down the prefered jacket.
Montbell has some pretty good gear at realistic prices. They aren't that fashionable but they fit the idea lightweight and warm jackets. I'd say they fall slightly on the low end for warmth at each temperature range but they are very good at showing you actual fill weight for each jacket which makes it easier to judge how warm it is.
If you prefer a tighter cut I have been very happy with my down from Katabatic. I have the Tarn but if I needed the extra warmth wouldn't hesitate to get the heavier one. The dead bird may suit some needs better since it incorporates synthetic into certain areas of the jacket.
We should start a new conspiracy theory that all winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, luge, etc. are all made to keep people going downhill, and therefore away from the ice wall. Nobody skis uphill, nobody gets to the wall. Make no mention whatsoever of gravity.
Have a Rab Microlight. Its not the heaviest, but that makes it nice for fast.paced walking and hiking. Get something heavier if you need it for more stationary activities like camp. But for central European climate a Rab Microlight or something with an equivalent fill power is sufficient for winter, and more versatile cause you wont sweat when walking uphill.

Better for the price?
Probably not, unless you buy used.
Feathered Friends, Timmermade, and Katabatic are all goated for down jackets.
I would never buy anything other than dead bird hard shells.

The modern millennial SSRI stare.
as opposed to non-modern millenials? 19th century millenials?
Wrong jacket.
>10% feathers
>800 cuin
>10% feathers
Lmaooo typical overpriced fashion brand
It should be 0% feathers; 100% down.
>$150 for around 150g of 800 cuin filling and an adjustable hood
>expensive
Show me something with a better value and I'll eat crow.
Ah my bad, I thought that was the specs on the Canada goose that was posted.
Yah that’s expected of a decathlon jacket

I'm really looking to replace my bulky fleece

best Fill power sure, but that thin fabric will tear if you talk to it. I still want one though
fill power is just a measurement of down loft. 100 grams of 1000fill power is colder than 400g of 650fp if the jackets had the exact same construction
Rab mythic ultra down jacket

Uniqlo has one in grey, Naturehike and Aegismax also have some competitive offerings.

All their other stuff is pretty good too but I think their down stuff is their main draw.
-10 C
-WITH layers
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DOWN AND THIS?
Weight/compressibility.
Synthetics do better with moisture and dry faster. High quality down is warmer per oz and packs much smaller.
If you prefer a tighter cut I have been very happy with my down from Katabatic. I have the Tarn but if I needed the extra warmth wouldn't hesitate to get the heavier one. The dead bird may suit some needs better since it incorporates synthetic into certain areas of the jacket.
I hate Mountain Hardware, but their stretchdown jacket has been phenomenal
Why the frick would you want a white jacket?
That's absolutely insane one missed step and you now have a brown jacket.
What a fricking moronic idea.
It's for skiing, bo bingus.
Nobody actually skis that's something they made up for movies.
We should start a new conspiracy theory that all winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, luge, etc. are all made to keep people going downhill, and therefore away from the ice wall. Nobody skis uphill, nobody gets to the wall. Make no mention whatsoever of gravity.
i get best price/value from Decathlon.
The less-than-walmart store?
