For LE, there is next to no reason to go with 300blk over just sticking to 5.56. Meme round which does nothing remarkable apart from being super quiet and 11.5 5.56 guns work just fine for LE if you need a shorty. This isn't even accounting for costs, which I doubt cops care about taxpayer money then you have liability like this.

I thought the big thing about pushing .300 blk was how well it synergizes with suppressors, thus allowing you to go around with less hearing protection and thus more situational awareness?
I can easily see the appeal of an easily suppressed round for room clearing or just regular duty use without having to throw on as much earpro.

Not only does some fall off trucks, you can buy the factory surplus as well as factory projos to load your own. M855A1 is common.
The A1 isn't even much of an improvement over normal green tips. Too fancy for its own good. Lead core and steel penetrator is just fine as it is.

This could have been solved by the rifles not having forward assists and the department buying .300 blk ammo with bullets big enough/seated far enough forwards to not close the bolt when jammed into a 5.56/.223 chamber

How do you figure?
The appeal of it is how well it suppresses without fiddling too much with gas/powders and how it works well with your normal 5.56 setup. Switch barrels and you're mostly golden. Deregulating suppressors would just encourage further adoption of the round since the suppression capabilities are just about the entire appeal of it.
300 blackout is shit, it's never worth it. Logistical nightmare
