I think the concept of a 2nd American Civil War is gaining popularity because it would also bring about the downfall of globalism and the current world order. It has the same appeal of escapism as any other doomsday scenario, but between nuclear war and the Yellowstone super volcano it seems more plausible, I guess

Vietnam did not do well. Infact, majority of their military engagements with Americans were pretty bad. Afghanistan the same when you ONLY inflicted 2.5k deaths in 20 years while your own people suffered 100k in total. All of those conflicts were militarily one sided.

Trust me if it's going to happen it's going to happen very quickly and it's not going to be publicized as much as you anticipate. It's not happening... yet but we're definitely getting there.

I could give you cliche advice like stock up on food and water, have a fun/ammo, but that's room temperature advice that everyone knows to do and then u should have already did this at minimum in 2020. I would not only do all of that but start talking to your neighbors, friends, family, and gather community together to ride the boogaloo with, you're gonna need some people with you to get through this successfully (tbh help from friends, family, and community will allow you to live a more successful life right now and it's how the israelites are more successful by helping out their own, help out your own). Find ways to continuously get food from renewable sources by planting fruit trees from cuttings both on your land and in public parks, start raising livestock (specifically rabbits and goats) if you can, find some ways to produce electricity there's other ways to do this besides solar, and lastly have a useful skill. Honestly if things got really bad even some stuff like knowing how to play an instrument, cook delicious food, and brew alcohol would not only keep you alive but maybe allow you to thrive. Use your common sense and intuition and avoid stupid/dangerous situations, so many people explicitly do stupid things for absolutely no good reason.
Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc were completely incomparable to a civil conflict in the US, because they had functionally no access to US infrastructure.
