Italian gun laws are super weird

I decided to buy some ammo, never done it before, the idea is to go to the gun range with some friends that are into guns

Went to the shop bought a box of 9x21 for my CZ (12 euro for 50 rounds).

The gun shop dude asked me "how many rounds of 9x21 can you have?"

>pardon me?

You can only have 200 rounds for your guns. You need to go to the police station and figure it out, you have 3 days.

Went to the police station this morning.

>Hi, I have to denounce some ammo

Ok, where are the ammos?

>A-at home?

hmm

First floor, the door on the left

>Hi, the gun owner told me to speak with you

Oh yes, you can only have 200 rounds

>so do i have to come here every time i buy ammos?

yes

do the smart thing and stock your ammos to the max so that you don't come here every week

>ok

You have a .357 and a 9x21 we will divide your cap in to 100 .357 and 100 9x21

>can i buy .38 for my 357

I THINK YES

>ah, ok...oh I also have a sig 550 in .243, should we make some space for them?

NO PROBLEM, THOSE ARE COUNTED AS SPORT/HUNT AMMUNITIONS, YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY AS YOU WANT

This is some kafka stuff, i swear

Portuguese here I know that feel
I can have 500 rounds max of category B ammo, so, having pistols in three different calibers it gets really restrictive.
Thinking about selling my .38 SPL LCR and buying one in 9mm to share ammo with the Glock.
Hunting ammo has a limit also, but it's 5000 or 1000 of each caliber

I thought they changed the allowed amounts recently? Might be wrong, anyhow that amount only applies for completed munitions IIRC, so i recommend you get into handloading.

morally, there's nothing wrong with what you're suggesting, but if you buy a revolver in 9mm I will think less of you as a person.

theres something called automatic restock or whatever where they assume you've spent some ammo after some time and dont have to go again to the police when buying new ones, not sure tho

Ah, you are the anon that inherited a bunch of guns including a SIG 510. Did you have a chance to shoot any of them yet?

      Yes it is me.

I am looking forward to go at the gun range, but my current job doesn't give me much time, however I stocked some ammo just in case.

That’s absolutely wild, dude. I always buy my ammo at least 1000 rounds at a time and restock frequently.
I’m sorry you have to suffer ridiculous and asinine laws like that.

Frick. If I lived in a place where .22LR had a cap to how much I could buy/have I'd be screwed. I buy 2-3 times that ammo cap, around 2,500 rounds each time I get low lol.

It has its ups and downs. I just wish everything wasn't "a problem" that needs "a solution (new laws)" to some group of people big enough to make dumb shit happen. Also can you guys buy 9x19 handguns now? I know your 9x21 gun is probably old enough to have been made before that change, but I'm curious how it changed the gun market in Italy, being able to buy "military calibers" and all. Over here 9x21 in any form is a dead cartridge.

This, I live near a pretty big online ammo retailer, they let you buy directly from the warehouse so I'm usually just picking up 1,000 rounds at a time without even having to pay shipping.

Ialian here as well, the amount of italians that don't even understand the basics of our gun laws is staggering. Your post is full of bullshit that has no basis in law. (Leaving aside the fact that literally no one will ever check if you're over your limit and everyone just buys how much they want)

With a basic license you can own 200 rounds of "pistol" ammo, 1500 rounds of hunting ammo with a single core like 308 or 223, unlimited "broken" ammo like buckshot etc.
Nobody really enforces it as you can simply buy however much ammo you want and go shoot it at the range so nobody would be able to check if you really shot it or stashed away in your garage like 99% of gun owners do.
With a simple membership from an affiliated CONI range you can also request to be able to legally stock way more ammo.
Seeing as you're the SIG inherited guy it feels like you've got a knack at not standing up for yourself and letting others walk all over you.

      >Nobody really enforces it
I should clarify that it is enforced only in the case where you did something really dumb with your firearms or did something to warrant them seizing your guns like beating your wife or threatening to kill someone. In that case they will obviously charge you if they find too much ammo at your home.

Ideally you should have non-shit laws instead of a system where the boldest dickheads get all the benefits
But then again this is Italy we're talking about

yeah but italy doesn't have Black folk the way the US does so the comparison is moot

unironically 56% of the US number is blacks killing blacks. 7700 "whites" were victims of homicide in 2022, do remember that up until THIS YEAR hispanics were considered "white"

nta, but that would make it not bad honestly
maybe not straight western euro level but not that far off, probably around Estonia or Romania
(though euro countries could also improve their stats by excluding their problematic minorities)
Funnily even without exluding blacks and hispanics the USA is safer than at least one euro country, namely Russia kek

And almost all violence is limited to a couple of cities in democrat states. I feel like most Europeans don’t understand just how large the United States is. It’s basically like the EU with the states being countries. Talking about “The United States” as one country, the way you would with Germany or Sweden, is stupid.

this is is also the reason why europeans give you shit for the muh america proud shit sometimes btw.

normalBlack folk may not openly admit it, but i think the sentiment from a lot of europeans is
              >yeah great, you got to the new world as one of the first, you got rid of the real competition early, and all you had left to do was eradicate some injuns to take home an entire continent's worth of liveable land for basically no effort, big deal.
like, your country is on easy mode, i'm not saying it couldn't have been a shitshow (imagine chinks colonizing north america lol) but most of the other white countries would have ended up creating a colony turned superpower in the exact same way if they'd won the ratrace first.
