Yes, but from the looks of it also the past and present. Checkmate is a pretty old concept.

The United States military does not have an effective close air support air frame that can survive in an area in which the enemy has the current inventory of SAM's. Man portable SAM's will defeat CAS attempts.

We can do CAS from strategic bombers. MANPADS are a threat to specific forms of CAS, but you need actual AA systems to deter CAS in general.

The US has the most advanced aircraft and missiles in the world, as well as the most SAM systems. With the extremely advanced tech that the US fields, there would be a way to land bombs against any conventional force.

CAS means that the support is hitting close to friendlies, not that the thing delivering it is close.

It is a simplification of ideas that already exist into a visual form. Total conventional war is the lowest form of warfare, and kill chains can be more complex. History would suggest that each opponent, each political situation, and each strategic situation call for a unique approach.

I understand the infographic, but the last sentence alone could have been rewritten to explain the entire thing much better, thus:
    >have many different mobile and shifting independent kill chains all at once so that enemies have no effective response

The future of warfare is controlling the satellites and their communications mesh with high altitude and ground. He who controls the spice controls the universe. he who controls the spice can send a robot bomb to land on a pin and see the thermal signatures of his enemies children's turds.

      No.
      >how it's done today
soldier sees target, soldier talks to JTAC, JTAC talks to F-15, F-15 drops bomb
      >how they want it done in future
soldier sees target, drone sees target,
      both talk to the Net
F-15, artillery piece, tank, offshore destroyer all get targeting data from the Net
F-15, artillery, etc launches the bombs, shells, cruise missiles

they want to P2P torrent ordnance, not client-server ordnance

Noone likes Iran. The supposed "good relations" are just a suspension of open hostility and a quasi cold war between Iran and it's neighbours.

I know that powerpoints and paperwork is part of why the US is as powerful as it is, but holy fricking shit can it be moronic.

The question is in "what way do you have more shit", which is something that many eg Russia to this day fail to understand.

As well as many people ITT.

Low-flying CAS is optimal because it increases situational awareness and reduces time-to-target. In a MANPADS situation the CAS must fly outside of the threat’s engagement range, or attempt Wild Weasel if training and machines allow. Doing Wild Weasel takes the plane off the CAS mission and flying high decreases withal awareness and increases time-to-target. Helicopters are another option able to hide from threats while providing CAS but position becomes a complicating factor. This is talking about America mind you.

Russians doing CAS rely mostly on dumb bombs and rockets so must fly low; even Soviet-era planes have ballistic computers but there are too many factors which impact accuracy which can only be minimized by flying as low as possible. The pilots don’t have the training to do Wild Weasel so any AD threat means they can’t do CAS. Their choppers can snipe things at max range but they don’t have the tech to do anything more. Ukrainians have JDAM-ERs but this is a kludged-together solution so they’re really only for pre-planned targets— and Ukrainians are only able to manage a handful of sorties a day for whatever reason meaning their troops simply don’t get CAS at all.
