Is this tech the game changer Ukraine needs?
Ziggers will never be able to achieve this tech, soon the skies of Ukraine will have hovering Javelins.

This concept has to be a shitpost, right?

I thought the ejection port was used to feed so-called AR-57s that load from the top?

        Anonymous

Ar57 has a completely different upper receiver and also ejects through the magwell

there's a variation for belt fed on the market. this is reasonably viable. only major question is how it handles recoil.

Wake me up when they actually have their first Felon 1.0 prototype and show they can mass produce it

        >recoil
Just shoot a powerful blank in the opposite direction. You will carry less 5.56 ammo but it isn't a big deal

what's the point of attaching a gun to a drone?
seems like you'd only use this to reduce collateral damage.

It would be devastating if this thing ever entered the battlefield. Current drones either hit one target and explode, or drop a grenade on a target then have to leave combat. Baba Yaga was the next step, being able to hold more ordinance before needing to leave. With a Felon-type system it doesn't need to retreat, it flies around sniping every single soldier from the sky, where it can't be targeted, until they are all dead, then comes back for more 5.56 and to recharge. They need to find a way to make them relatively inexpensive, however

It would be devastating if you can hit frick all with it. I'm not even saying the technology is that far away, given where thermals and smart scopes are, but it doesn't seem all put together yet anywhere.

But yeah, once you have small drones that are basically floating rifle barrels delivering accurate sniper fire it will be absolutely horrific to be infantry without proper AD. Russia clearly lacks proper AD.

As long as you can hold the gun steady in the air it should be more than accurate enough from at least a few hundred meters. A Bren 2 mounted in a lightweight, electronically-adjusted upside-down tripod shouldn't be that expensive or difficult to implement. You don't really need this expensive and unnecessary belt-feed system and ammo box to start with, they simply have 100-round AR mags and shoving one of those into a drone gun should be more than enough for one drone before it needs to go back. You could also put a suppressor on it so they don't know where the drone is

Grenade drones get pretty close to soldiers, maybe 100 meters, when they drop them so you don't need a heavy drone or a need for exceptional accuracy to get good hits on target

While a normal drone can't carry a suppressed AR with a 100-round drum, a Baba Yaga can, with plenty of weight to spare. It wouldn't be the first time

That's probably before they strapped 3-4 pounds of gun to it.

Isn't that just a matter of the direction of the ejector? It seems like that would be the smallest hurdle to deal with. How does it disintegrate the links or deal with the recoil?

      >more stowed kills
      >less affected by wind
how the frick do you even end up at "collateral damage" with this when the current alternative is dropping grenades and grenade-FPVs into trenches

Current dji drones and their derivatives can carry maybe 1 medium explosive or 8 smaller ones. I've mostly seen only 1-2 explosives per drone being fielded. Assuming people are doing their homework and spread out correctly, that's 2 kills max per trip, and that's assuming it's not a suicide drone.
A rifle gives you more potential kills per trip. You can then reserve explosives for more appropriate targets like vehicles or emplacements.

No such thing, Ukraine is winning anyway. The only "gamechanger" needed is for the west to stay the course and keep up support.

If 20-30 year old weapons and weapons systems can kill ziggers with ease there is no harm in trying some things out in between.

when they say spike they mean

which is not equivalent to a fricking javelin.
    obviously they're confusing it with:
