The BigOne(tm) is massive, which I love, but $1200... is that justified?

It's $1200 for a sack full of styrofoam. You have to be an absolute moron if you need to ask that question, let alone actually buy one.

I have zero clue how much styrofoam costs

Materials aside, it's overpriced because using it at all means you're starting a clock on throwing it away. If you have dogs, kids, or otherwise aren't ultra clean, it will soak up all manner of disgusting shit you'll never be able to properly clean out. Spill one drink on it, and it's downhill from there.

well, the cover is easily replaceable, no? And no kids or dogs. Just a cat, but she doesn't scratch anything that she shouldnt

Also for clarity, that company probably gets theirs for like a quarter of that cost due to buying in huge volume. I wouldn't be surprised if $1200 was a 10x markup on their manufacturing cost.

Several people in my family have them. They're worth the cost, as a luxury item, and they last forever. They don't soak shit up, because they have removable covers that you throw in the washing machine, and the sac itself is waterproof.
My brother's extra large on, I think it's a 6-8 person one, has survived 3 kids from toddlers to teenager, 5 dogs and 2 cats. It's in fantastic shape.

It's a LUXURY item. You don't ever have to own one, and there are cheaper ones on the market. But if you can afford one, it's worth the $$$.

Would you please recommend me an alternative, at least one?

Is there a difference between styrofoam and memory foam?

          >Is there a difference between styrofoam and memory foam?
Yes, one is rigid foam beads used to fill beanbag chairs, the other is large sheets/slabs of pliant foam used to make furniture cushions and mattresses. Completely different materials for different applications.

Ok, anon. You convinced me. I will buy a good pre-made cover, and then fill it up myself

            >waterproof sack
            >comfortable cover

            no?

I'm sure there is. You're smart enough to type words into a search engine, right? Or do you need someone to hold your hand through that too?

I'm not a bean bag chair expert, or your personal shopper.

I bought my kid a fancy bean bag chair a few years ago.

Except it's not closed cell polystyrene, it's open cell foam chunks.

Lots of great reviews online. I assume the reviews are all fake.
          The chair absolutely sucks balls.
He never uses it. Ever. I sat on it for like 5 minutes and decided foam chunks are the absolute worst fill for a bean bag chair ever.

I might have to buy some of these just to salvage the chair I bought.
Maybe I'll mix in some of the foam bits just to see if it makes a difference.

A word of caution, from my experience beanbag chairs kind of suck. Because the foam balls are incredibly good at thermal insulation, they reflect your body heat back at you. So any time I've sat in one for more than 15 minutes my back always got really sweaty from the heat.

80 bucks for the foam and 20 for the fabric.
