Is there any reason for me not to use .300 Blackout as my primary round
>I already handloads most of my 5.56 ammo and I can load .300 BO for about the same price
>I can use a short barreled AR in .300 without losing effectiveness for hunting any of the game available to me, but I wouldn't trust a short 5.56 to take a deer or hog reliably
>I live in thick southeastern forest so needing to shoot more than 150 yards happens
Yeah.
Do it
>t. using 7.62x39 in the southeast for the same reason
Expense is literally the major factor, if it isn't a problem for you, then go for it.
Sounds like a great choice for your application. If you handload the cost isn't a factor and .300 blk is plenty effective inside 150 yards.
I'm too moronic to not stuff it into my AR by accident, but you aren't me.
based reloader, imo the biggest benefit over x39.
much larger bullet selection, easier to find brass, don't have to worry about berdan primed cases.
Assuming you're only ever using a barrel less than 10 inches it might be worth it. With anything like a 14.5 or longer, .223 seems like it's gonna be a better choice
16" 300blk is superior (for hunting) than 16" 5.56, and especially better than .223 fricktard.
Why are morons always so aggressive.
>287 yards, 77gr TMK
>using a match bullet for hunting
moronation has reached new levels.
>Dead elk with horrific wound from a .223
>OH IT WAS FROM A MATCH BULLET, YOU CANT DO THAT
The animals don't seem to notice you can't kill them with match bullets
>massive amounts of bloodshot damage
>underpenetration
These are not good things
How deep did it penetrate?
>calling that an elk
Get out euro
Only the first one is an elk
The first one is not an elk.
It's the size of a small whitetail doe.
I still cannot fathom the level of seething a person has to be going through to actually make that.
Same but also you're a tripgay so shut the frick up
And a troony tripgay
>don't trust 5.56 to take deer or hog
You live behind a whey factory or something? It drops overgrown dogs and piggers just fine. I've got more kills out of my Contender in .223 than any of my other durr guns.
Triple deuce has been whacking deer for 70 years.
Gay
Aside for price unironically no
It's my favorite. Been making these thumpers for years. 150g Lee mold over 4227.
.300 BLK, despite its popularity, almost exclusively sticks with .308 Win bullets. These bullets do not like the velocities .300 BLK is capable of. It does fine, but it needs purpose-built projectiles to reach its full potential, and I don't think that's likely to happen in any appreciable scale.
Lol no.
No, no no.
300 Blackout has a lot of projectiles made for its own velocity range. Definitely true for subsonics, mostly true for supers. The ones that aren't are the practice loads (145-150 grain FMJ bullets meant for 308) and some of the quasi match loads (175 grain SMK)
Black person there's tons of our pose built heavy bullets meant to open at subsonic speeds, along with the barnes 110, 120, and the nosler 110, and 125s perform excellently in 300blk
