no... how about real life? video games/internet destroyed young men, especially those in first world nations. it's a slow-burn addiction because it allows you to live vicariously through games instead of doing things in real life.

God would be doing everyone a favor if the power went out without warning to anyone, making rich and poor stuck in the same boat with the same odds of making it out, especially if the blackout lasts years.
But he wont. God doesnt like things changing that way, he clearly enjoys the rich feeding on the poor.

The vast, vast majority of people have never voluntarily spent time in a forest. Most probably don't even know more than the ways from their homes to the shops and their workplace.
You need to hike at most an hours away and onto a mountain to be safe from 80% of the fallout. Most will just run from one crowded and jammed up city to the next.

It's a completely different mechanism of action, a solar flare electrifies all components, what this means is that electronics not designed to take higher current (fragile shit like computer chips especially) will be completely fried, we will probably end up back at the tech level of the 1980s outside of big corporate Black folk who put their shit underground

            >they've accounted for CME's!
No they havent, they can't, best thing they can do is add some faraday shielding, which unironically wouldnt work in most cases given that the wireless connection wouldnt be able to pierce the cage, in the rare cases they do it'll still end up useless since routers and towers will burn out.

delusional doomposting. The wires in PCs aren't long enough, are shielded by the metal in the case (rip plastic case Black folk)

unless your pc is hooked into the grid when it happens

Whoever made you think this will only happen to wires is the delusional one, the static will carry along the circuits themselves, any fragile circuitry is toast

ICs have such a small surface area they are unlikely to get directly fried unless it is a high altitude EMP (not a solar flare)

          Anonymous

Moron, it won't matter if electronics are plugged into the grid or not, they have the same odds of being fried.

            Anonymous

No, charge only gathers on the power grid due to the very long copper wires. If you have devices very close to power grid wires but not plugged in, it could still damage them. You shouldn't even need a faraday cage, though it's so easy to make them with foil might as well.

The Internet is dying on its own. All of that Utopian nonsense has amounted to 80% porn, 10% shopping, 5% braindead entertainment, 5% arguing about the daily news.

Where are the centers of higher learning and enlightenment? You don't need the Internet to download glorified HTML files of books. And you still have to read the books, which most people literally can't thanks to the public school systems. The best minds still email one another directly, if they communicate at all.

Anyone can quickly and easily make a website but even that's too much effort for them.

The Internet is a failed experiment.

I love libgen, I am saying we don't need "The Internet" to index and download 200kb text files. It's not like we have to have porn and Tiktok in order to subsidize the books. And instant access to books isn't making people smarter, in fact they are getting dumber, there's no correlation.

        >All of that Utopian nonsense
I mean, what did people think it was going ti be used for?

Peace on Earth, good will toward men. Transhumanist nonsense. But really, people thought it was going to enable humanity to escape reality, to become more, to get rid of our social ills. The same way they now talk about AI.

All we really have is digital versions of things that already exist. For nearly a century we have had shopping catalogs, taxis, food delivery, maps, encyclopedias, movies, music, talk radio, newspapers, telephones, telegrams, go on and on. What about the Internet is truly NEW and not simply convenient, saving on space, weight, or time to access?

I fricking wish some solar storm fries all the computers.
I’m finishing my aerospace engineering degree and those Polish professor fricks demand to (on top of modern techniques like CAD, CFD, etc.) be able to do everything, I mean literally everything in a ‘traditional’ way, pen/pencil and paper. I had to draw whole fricking assembly and structural drawings of aircraft by hand, after designing one entirely by hand, with manual calculations, while at the same time doing it ‘in a modern way’ in parallel (which obviously took 1/20 of the time or less). I had to do fricking finite element method analysis by hand, despite having a whole dedicated course where I’ve done it with Ansys.
I’ve talked to exchange students and nowhere else (at least in Europe) does anyone do this shit. Nobody teaches the ‘by hand’ engineering anymore.
If a storm hits it’ll probably be me and other guys I study with along with some geriatric 80 year olds who’ll be able to build aircraft without computers.

      Anonymous

You got a thorough education. That is a good thing.

        Anonymous

On one hand - yes. Not just 1 in a million sceneries where computers go down but it does genuinely help to get better understanding of many things, not just using a tool someone else made without fully understanding it and (with enough time and resources) - being theoretically able to replicate it. I’m tired af (haven’t slept for like 40 hrs) so my explanation can be a bit janky but my point is, in many industries, there exists a sort of standing on the shoulders of giants phenomenon, where many people use already existing tools (often built over many decades) without really knowing what ‘goes under the hood’ and if such tool ever was lost, they themselves couldn’t made another one like it. By analogy, they are like normies driving cars - they can do it (although usually poorly) but they don’t know how the car works, many not even in the most basic form (and that’s the main reason why most of them can’t drive properly and damage/wear out things prematurely so often). Normie could spend 2 hours a day for most of their life in a car yet not understand it, let alone build even the simplest one.
If shit goes down, we might be going back to the Stone Age in many aspects from the looks of it.
+hand drawings/blueprints of aircraft look kino af, there’s some kind of aesthetic to it idk, I guess it’s the same as a photograph vs a good painting (frick modern art btw)

When the spinning ball-Earth is finally exposed worldwide for the 400+ year deception it was, Earth's entire population will suddenly be faced with the reality that every government, every space agency, university, secret society, religious organization, mainstream and alternative media outlet have ALL been duplicitous in propping up a monstrous manipulation to fleece and control the masses. The resulting mass mental exodus away from the control system is exactly what humanity needs. Once the flat Earth truth gets out, these lying politicians, spokesmen, reporters and teachers suddenly change from being heralded voices of authority to being ridiculed, shunned and denounced as they deserve. Once the flat Earth truth gets out, these governments, universities, media outlets and other entangled organizations which have long been hard at work weaving this multi-generational ball-Earth myth, suddenly and completely lose all credibility. Once the truth of our flat Earth gets out, so does the truth of these few elite families/societies who have kept this most important and fundamental reality from us for these hundreds of years! Essentially, once the flat Earth truth gets out, so does every other important truth by proxy, because this "mother-of-all-conspiracies" holds under its umbrella literally ALL of the other conspiracies, and exposes them.

A solar flare will indiscriminately destroy electric devices

Because its fake and gay and they are prepping NPCs for them taking down the internet and NPCs will be too stupid to go to their hosts file for a backup.

Definitely, last Carrington event took out the telegraph in the 1850s. The next one will definitely cause societal collapse. Everything electric will be affected.

Hardly. I've studied blackouts and CME's for about 11 years now, and things only get interesting after like a week or so, if the internet goes out for a day or two, nothing will happen.
People will continue to pay taxes while their country is on fire, others will continue to wait in line while the store is looted.
People are cattle, anon. More than 50% of any given countries populace will accept any and all measures, covid proved this.
    >Be cattle
    >No power or internet
    >government sends a car with a speaker to tell people to chill out.
    >chill out.
After a day or two it'll be
    >no power or internet

    >people hold on and share resources.

Do you have enough cash on hand? Does the pub have enough beer on hand until the internet comes back? Does the warehouse have the papers with all the orders the pub needs on a weekly ratio?
Do the breweries have their systems running and know how much beer goes where?
Do the warehouses supplying the brewery with malt?
Does the farmer even get up in the morning now that his mobile phone can't wake him up?

Isn't Beltegeuse really, really extremely far away though? I'm more worried about the radiation coming from the Sun (combined with a weakened magnetic field here) and possibly the atomic power plants - if their security systems suddenly stopped working...

Sirius is the biggest risk. As far as stars are concerned. Two stars closely rotating means possible super nova. We would slowly see it fill our day/night sky for like 50 years and then be wiped out.
