Is Russia a undefended country? I don't get how it's possible that mercenaries are able to take over your country without any resistance. You would expect there to be rows of tanks and soldiers just waiting for Wagner but that wasn't the case since they were able to reach Moscow unopposed. Another example would be the attack on Belgorod Oblast. They were able to defend but the response was slow and they had no idea that they wore attacked. It's crazy how Russia can't see troop movements in their own territories. I doubt that they have a million soldiers on standby.

Obviously. Why do you think the Ukrainians were able to launch cross border raids all the way back to March 2022? All the available heavy equipment is on the frontlines or isn't in fighting shape. The only people that could respond to the Wagner threat were riot cops and the air force.
It turned out all of Putin's rhetoric about Ukrainian aggression and encirclement by NATO was bullsht. He was never worried about that or else he wouldn't have transferred so much of his forces to Ukraine.
