It sucks because a bunch of money was used (either actually spent or "lost") and the end product is of questionable effectiveness and limited quantities
Yes, now go make another thread where someone rightfully shits on something russian where someone else makes as many excuses for said thing as possible.

There is no meaningful assessment of its capabilities because not only is it only used to take off and lob long range missiles with, it only flies in makeshift configurations without things like the intended engines. It sucks I'm the sense that it, the project, failed to produce any meaningful results. It's absolutely fallen short of any claims made by the Russians about its capabilities, that almost goes without saying, and so it sucks by default for being worse than it's stated spec, but that's essentially every piece of Russian equipment. We'll probably never know how cost effective individual units are, but with the way that per unit costs balloon when production runs are shortened, the pattern does not look good. All information suggests, but only suggests, that Russia overpaid for an aircraft that sort of kind of does the F-16s mission set with a very early access sort of low observability construction that might have been impressive during the Soviet Union but now... Looks inadequate and uninventive in a world with F-16 block 3637363, Gripen, Japan and Korea attempting to break into aerospace, and the new standard being set rapidly by F-35s astronomical production numbers. Better or par for cheaper has been something you could buy from neutral nations for more than a decade now. I doubt this means the end of Russian aero, but for now it does mean the end of Russian aero's relevance. Ironically enough their best bet is buying Chinese, no matter how dubious the quality those airframes actually exist.
Short answer is yes; what the SU-57 is is a shitty copy to make a 4th gen aircraft appear to be 5th gen.
It has SOME portions that are reasonable, like longer ranges than NATO aircraft, but that's more because they don't have any areal refueling to consider. It still BEGS to be a supermaneuverable fighter as if that's the type of fight 5th gens are going to go into.
There is nothing stealthy about this aircraft. It's paintjob alone should bear you a shitton of red flags; Low-Observable doesn't 'shine' like the 57s coat does. It's big as frick, with rounded angles, an exposed intake that lets you look right down into the engine, and half of its engines exposed and without any coating.
Plus with all of the fricking pics/videos you see, the manufacturing quality is absolute dogshit. Even if it was on paper a reasonable aircraft, it's been laundered to being a fricking punchline and retirement fund for siphoning generals.
If small cruise missiles are easily spotted and shot down by old radars, what kind of stealth can we talk about if the target is the size of a fricking barn
The future of fighter jets is to be extremely cheap drones, expendable disposable material for delivering missiles that will be destroyed 24/7 in the event of a major clash between advanced military powers
It's bad because they promote it as an F-22/F-35 competitor, while in reality it's a very modest Su-27/Su-35 upgrade with a fancier-looking frame. No new engines, no good radar, no stealth.
Yes, it's a fricking travesty of an aircraft and possesses next to none of the capabilities characteristic of 5th generation aircraft, not the least of which is stealth.
It's also a wonder that they somehow made more of these things than the number of T-14s proven to exist, given that the latter is simply a tank implementing existing and well-tested tech and concepts and the Felon is a damn fighter jet
Well, it's a unique Russian take on the fighter-bomber concept so even if it's not very good on account of shitass Russian avionics, that's something I can definitely appreciate. They've also seen a respectable amount of combat, regardless of horrific loss rates. The Su-57 on the other hand is just peak potemkin performative bullshit.
yes
Yeah, it's as bad as other imaginary things like Satan, a zombie apocalypse or linear algebra.
>imaginary
This is a real plane, that exists, no matter how much of a joke it seems like.
Considering less then a squadroon of them has been built, it might aswell be vaporvare.
>is it
Why do you assume it is at all?
tldr?
>X SUCKS
Generally is on my UBO filters, too much filler and clickbaitery
Most of the problems with the su57 is the almost nil production rate and the fact that's a gen 4.5 rather than a real 5. That's sucks?
don't tell me you believe in useless fricking meme stealth technologies that double the cost of a fighter jet
It sucks because a bunch of money was used (either actually spent or "lost") and the end product is of questionable effectiveness and limited quantities
Didn't they shoot one down and sell the scrap metal as key chain ornaments in Ukraine?
no. no SU-57 has entered Ukrainian airspace
They've just used them to lob missiles BVR from russian airspace so far. They can't afford to lose them.
That was an Su-35S
Oh nice, I wish I could have got one
It's probably a decent aircraft.
It's just not what Russia and vatniks have tried to make it out to be, and probably never will be.
why would a youtuber know if a fighter jet is good or not?
"the SU-57 isn't good" is a pretty safe take

You're a moron

It's probably quite good compared to other 4th gen aircraft lel. It's definitely not a 5th gen plane.
The Su-34 is the one Russian airplane with soul. Two seats, highly maneuverable for its size, basically a mini B1 bomber with canards.
