Also, what are the military implications of Russian soldiers being captured by foreign American troops?

And why do Americans seem so nonchalant in war?

NTA But I remember the bri'ish volunteer and a few others I can't name off the top of my head saying similar stuff. It seems legit, going from having the most complex and efficient logistics on the planet (you can get a fricking Burger King airlifted to you) to a near peer conflict ran by slavs is going to be some whiplash. The vets with combat experience that volunteered went from fighting jihadis to having to deal with getting bombed in a trench, air superiority not being a guarantee, and a bunch of other horrors that this war has spawned.

I don't remember where so you unironically will have to trust me bro unless you want to watch it all but as far as I remember he said a lot of Americans from the regular army kind of shit their pants because they weren't used to fighting without air support and godly logistics etc.

while the Americans from the less resource intensive units who were more used to getting shit on in the dirt (Marines/MARSOC he made mention of) did really well.

Not him but basically the handful of nihon volunteers over there are absolutely obsessed with social media clout and kept spreading bullshit about all of the US volunteers "leaving Ukraine".
Then videos started cropping up of US volunteers very clearly taking part in forward combat raids. Cue backpedaling, doubling down, or just deleting their posts and pretending they didn't talk shit.
At this point most of the Japanese volunteers have very clearly been removed from forward combat positions. Probably because they can't stop running their mouths off on twitter. More so than any other nationality over there. I think they still hold this bizarre belief that Japanese is an indecipherable language that no man nor machine can figure out and have proven themselves to be intel liabilities.

                Anonymous

Japanese are monolinguals*, but for the most part their language is irrelevant. So they do tend to think others can't understand them. *Meanwhile Russians, Byelorusians, Americans, Brits, Commonwealthers, etc speak a relevant language so despite being monolingual they expect others to understand them. And Japs are just weird in general, even if a foreigner understands Japanese they'll still respond in their extremely broken English. Basically the reverse of the French who seem to get a rise out of responding to English in French. You could just say all Japs are autistic, even more so than Germans. They are the meme people make out Germans to be.

Insurgents in Iraq were a much larger threat than the Taliban ever was. They were (rightfully) furious that the United States invaded and occupied them over literally nothing. The typical peasant in Afghanistan was perfectly fine with American occupation by comparison, in part, because the economy got better over time

      Anonymous

Anon, Iraqis were literally killing themselves. The "insurgents" in iraq were never united and were in constant division. Iraqis were happy at first, but soon everything went to chaos because there wasn't a proper plan for post invasion iraq. Another thing: many insurgents in iraq weren't native to iraq. For example, some of them came from libya, Afghanistan, Chechnya etc. The power vacuum caused all those jihadists flooding into the country which is why iraq was more dangerous.

      Anonymous

Well that would depend on whether or not you fear death. Americans did exactly this in 1776, the British were the most powerful martial force on the planet. In modern war, the physical fighting is less of a factor than public support. The political and historical factors, the decisions to call off insurgencies or offensives. Morale, the will to fight, the political will to manifest the front. In real life, war is not like your movies and video games, it is political and complex.

The physical fighting is the main factor determining all of the latter ones you mention. Depending on how well you and your enemies perfomance fares is how easy of an time you have with your propaganda.

I don’t think this is a good example. Everything the British had, we had in 1776 or at least had experience with. They just had way, way more of it. There wasn’t a technological gap like precision guided missiles hitting a house where the people in it don’t even have electricity or running water.

Yes. It's the perfect mix of planning autism and pure stupid aggression.

I watched an Army documentary on the Thunder Runs on Baghdad. It was extremely dilligent staffwork that got the division to the gates of the city, obscene logistics that kept them gassed up and gunned up, and then sheer agression that lead to the decision to embark on what was, for all intents and purposes, a day long drive by shooting with tanks and air support.

      It's the exact opposite.
For many generations, Americans didn't have to fight on their own land, for the survival of their own families. The American soldier treats a war as an extreme sport, something they are doing on a whim and can opt out at any time, the only thing at stake is his own life and not the lives of his families and friends. The grim seriousness of the locals fighting an existential battle is incomprehensible to him.

I can't speak for anything modern but I remember reading years ago that Wehrmacht and such were surprised by how shitty they were treated by Americans and Americans in turn were surprised by how humanely they were treated by the Germans. Enemies are always dehumanized to an extent but we Americans seem to take it to another level.
If I was a goat fricker with an ak and a bag of grenades in 2005-2006 I would be afraid. If I was a Russian that just spent a year plus fighting Ukrainians and all their western support I can't imagine that seeing the Americans coming in person would elevate the fear all that much more than it's already been all this time.

      Anonymous

It's clear americans took dehumanization to a whole other level with mass media after Vietnam war. It was researched that about 90% of soldiers shot above their enemies because they didn't want to kill them. About same percent in WW2. Treating your prisoners respectfully was mostly invention of one german spymaster who saw that british personnel could be very open playing chess and sipping tea.

If you really think about logistics involved in moving hundred thousand men plus gear thousands of kilometers and executing the invasion of Iraq yeah american army is really really really scary. What has stuck with me the most was the bombing of Saddams palace with fricking sixteen tomahawks just to see it burn. Just compare this feat for a second to anything happening in Ukraine.

Fighting the US military is the most terrifying thing any combatant can participate in. It’s just death. Once you open fire the clock is ticking down on your life. Even courageous and committed guys like the Taliban had to resort to roadside IEDs because directly engaging US forces almost always meant dying.

The average Russian minority peasant which makes up the RuAF would surrender immediately if they could rather than fight the US. Wagner has some psychos that’ll go in anyway, perhaps knowing but not caring about their imminent death.

The worst an American will do to you is in the beginning. You're gonna die, and you probably won't suffer too long if at all. It's going to be fast and lethal as in the best killing machine in the world becaue we put a lot of money and our best minds to make it so. If you are survive and captured, you will wish you died. You'll get world class life saving care, a culturally sensitive meal plan, and some gay or black female ordering you around, touching you, the gayest fricking shit you can imagine...all for your benefit according to US. Then we will occupy your shit homeland for a generation or 3 and send our morons there to make you moronic too. Thank us later, friend. Have a blessed day.

Since this thread turned to gossip I would like to request for any rumors about how Poles are doing in the war (besides the standard Russian kvetching that they're struggling because there's a gorillion NATO forces on the spot, that's just boring).

The Taliban knew they were fighting for the glory of Allah, the light and the truth. They greet death like an old friend, knowing that as martyrs, paradise will await them. But what does the Russian have? Their greatest dream is to return to their hovels like dogs and drown themselves in drink. For this, Allah punishes them with fire for all eternity, after the ignominy of perishing to an american bullet paid for by the israelites.
