is it easy or hard to diy electric vehicles?

is it easy or hard to diy electric vehicles?

i want to get into ebikes and scooters because i don’t believe in cars and licenses. it is slavery and nothing else. the electric chad defeats this.

i just want to be able to repair my own bikes and scooters and build them myself.

yeah you only need to convert a regular bike or "amish bike"

I always wondered, wouldn't these kinds of bike just constantly scrape against the floor when you encounter some irregular terrain? Would you just constantly have to have that in mind?

I think they're meant to always stay on roads.

There are definitely trail versions but the raised footbed for clearance makes them harder to go cross country as you've got a constantly bent knee with nothing to sit on. It's more of a downhill thing. That said I have a bit of a project to convert an old torker bmx scooter like that to electric, I don't like that ninebot style with tiny ass wheels and shit brakes. like picrel

At least that's better than those stupid ass razor scooters that were super popular in my childhood. That paired with a small rock was about the best way to launch yourself.

There are kits you can buy to convert any bike or scooter. You can also get the pieces individually and create your own setup. Basic mechanical aptitude and bike/scooter knowledge is required

You at least need a speed controller between the battery and the motor. But yeah it’s dead simple to build.
I would buy a few escooters from auction at your local towing, cops seize these all the time due to shitty parking and the companies don’t want to pay the $1000 to get them back. They usually auction for like $5, not joking. Even then they’re hardly worth riding so take the expensive lipo batteries, throttle, brakes, and maybe motor for your project. Maybe melt the aluminum down and cast into some useful parts, it’s not hard to build a propane forge.
You can get an appletag or a gps dogtag if you’re concerned about theft and drop it in the frame.

A whole megameter? Probably going to need a pack the size of a piece of small luggage for that kind of range.

buy a decent hardtail mountain bike with hydraulic brakes and get a motor/battery kit. scooters are gay, less capable and would be harder to source parts for

hes fricking dumb...get hydraulic brakes and used metal pads...they are noisy but last a lot longer and work better...especially in wet conditions.

            Anonymous

not used* but use metal pads...as opposed to resin. if you get cable brakes you will be adjusting them every time you ride becaue ebikes are a lot heavier

Why modify a scooter or ebike when you can just use a scooter or ebike?

If you can get something for cheap, modification might make mediocre gear into excellent gear.

How do I do this but with free on the street lime scooters?

      Anonymous

      chop-shop style
      >fire up your handy GSM and/or GPS jammer
      >load up the van
      >it is unclear what triggers the anti-theft alarm
      >having brought all of your blankets, use them to sound-proof the scooters if the alarm goes off
      >do not take them to the workshop just yet, if the jammer is shit and ineffective the corpos may still be tracking you
      >drive to a nearby secluded location where you will be able to cut the power from the battery to the electronics
      >time is of the essence
      >you can now turn off the jammers and take them to your workshop
      >you are now free to take the apart making sure to dispose of anything that remotely looks like RF electronics
      >burn the frames

        Anonymous

Keep in mind that you'd probably get into more trouble for jamming GPS than you would for stealing.

          Anonymous

You could get away with a very low power signal if you make it directional onto the operating table in the van. I doubt anyone would notice.

The biggest footprint of your crimes will be searching for hoe to do this.

The only GPS component is the computer on the top, it’s very simple to detach the panel and unscrew it (usually philips head or torx) then toss it. It’s connected to a backup battery as well.
The alarm is a function of the speed controller. It’s located on the bottom of the scooter which you need security torx bits to access. Once you disconnect the battery (just yank the yellow connectors apart) it’ll stop. I would do this first so it doesn’t have a chance to trigger.
The speed controllers can sometimes be rigged so the throttle engages the motor whenever. You might have to fiddle with the battery pack too, there’s all sorts of excessive electronics in there.
Some people claim there’s GPS components behind the LEDs, which isn’t true. But sometimes there’s one located in the middle of the stem. If there’s more than six wires coming down the stem there might be one in there.
The escooter jannie will see it disconnected from their network and probably investigate soon.
Also don’t steal these. It’s not cool to mess with things that aren’t your property and if you really want one, they’re dead cheap to buy at auction. Not a bad investment for 10 lipo batteries, a brushless motor and some aluminum to melt.

    >protip fire-extinguishers or water do not work on lithium fires, its sand-bucket or bust.

    >protip do not buy aliexpress battery packs, they are made of lies

Nothing wrong with doing your own battery. Just gotta follow basic safety rules. For those who can't seem to even do that, Darwin awards are given 24/7!

if someone is asking "how hard 2 electric vehicool" they obviously cant diy their own battery.
the people capable of DIYing a battery will simply dismiss this advice, but most of them dont have a spot welder anyway.

    >is it easy or hard to diy electric vehicles?
Suspension, steering is hard. Motors are hard too.

  18. 8 months ago
    Anonymous

    Trivial.
    >ebike controller that can handle a bit more than the max draw of your motor
    >batteries selected for range and speed
    >motor selected for speed and power requirements (acceleration, load, incline capabilities)
Add that to whatever frame you want.
