First and foremost: Being short and light is a big plus in every .mil job with a lack of space. So while western tanks (just as one example) are made for taller guys you'd still have much more space inside, being more comfortable, less prone to bang your head etc.
    Then:
    >smaller caloric intake needed
    >smaller target in all three dimensions

Pic related. These ARVN Rangers should be about your size and weight. See how they can take cover behind a fricking gutter? Being short and lean has more pros than cons in the military

Good in a firefight sure, but as infantry you gotta haul heavy gear all the time. Tanker or pilot (even helicopter) is the way to go. Or more recently, drone operator.

  5. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

In combat, yes. As infantry, no. It's almost purely an upside in a pure gunfight without the need to lug around a huge amount of equipment, but a lot of soldiering is the things between combat, where it will often be a hindrance.

Lmao at all this manlet cope. 99,9% of the time being a manlet is inferior. That one magical combat scenario where being a midget magically saves you is pure manlet lore.

Imagine being so sizebroken that you have names and lists of units that are succesful. Fun fact; they'd all be better at their jobs if they were bigger.

I'm an honest-to-God 6'4 man, dude. My friends include giants and manlets, and I see no reason to shit on manlets if they are good humored.
You're acting like it's weird to know the name of the most decorated unit of WW2 and a short soldier who went on to become a movie star. And you are screeching like a female because I'm saying "Hey, short men aren't all bad" Who's mindbroken?

Honestly manlets like you are the reason society looks down upon you. Always overcompensating as a coping mechanism for your inferior genes. Pathetic.

And yes there are giants. One of my friends is 6'9 (I think, never asked him. He's about half a foot taller) and giant is the best way to describe his physique. His hands are like shovels.

Short men are genetically superior to taller men especially when they are super athletic.
We're going to genetically engineer all men to be small and super athletic in a few years as well, but that's a different conversation. Anyway you're a brainlet and an incel

        >Fun fact; they'd all be better at their jobs if they were bigger.
So why didn't the other taller guys around them do better than them? That's a pretty dumb argument to say in this context.

          Anonymous

If everyone carries 40kg of kit amd you're in the light infantry the bigger taller guys will be less exhausted carrying a smaller proportion of their bodyweight. The manlets will also need to flail their legs in rapid beetle-like strides to keep up.

In actual combat with sprinting between cover small people will tire from the higher percentage of weight. In the situational awareness of "can't see shit" everyone is equal.

Short people only have the smaller target minor advantage and the ability to crawl through a smaller hole to reposition.

            Anonymous

Counterpoint, taller people carry more of their own body weight plus gear. Small people have less body to carry around. But you're still the smallest target in a shooting war not the biggest and that speaks volumes. Strength can be obtained, size cannot

            Anonymous

Smaller people also suffer harder in cold climate because they have a worse body volume to surface area ratio.

That is pretty short. Roughly 5'3" 120lb in American units.

That makes you tall enough to meet requirements for entry into the US military, although you would need to bulk up a couple of KGs to meet minimum weight.

In terms of doing stuff, it will be a challenge to climb obstacles, keep pace in a march (short legs) and carrying the complete combat load. Especially since you are underweight, you probably lack muscle mass which would make you particularly vulnerable to physical injuries and strain from carrying all the gear and body armor that's standard issue to a grunt.
In terms of combat, you are a smaller target which is a great thing. Manipulating certain weapons may be tricky due to their weight and size, although you aren't so small that it would be difficult per se. A assault rifle with an adjustable length stock such as an M4 Carbine would probably do the trick just fine.
You would probably be a very good armored vehicle crewman. Endurance and carrying weight long distances is less of an issue since you have a vehicle for that. You'd still have to lift heavy objects frequently which would be a challenge, but not insurmountable so long as you learn to do it in a safe manner. Your smaller stature would actually be a huge benefit in the cramped interior, since taller/fatter crewmen normally struggle to get in/out and work in such a confined space.

My advice, bulk up and get good at lifting things without hurting yourself then aim for a job in an AV or maybe aircraft (they can get pretty tight as well). You could do pretty well specifically because of your height.

Being in combat is bad for your health.
Being short doesn't mean much except you're probably weaker and tire sooner because you have a higher percentage of carried gear by body weight.

  19. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

    I'd say it is advantage.

I'm a relatively tall guy, more target to shoot.

Endurance is more importance than strength in modern war, strength still has its place in carrying gear and hand-to-hand combat.

Running, carrying loads, hiking long distances, and still being able to ready up and place shots accurately at the drop of a hat.

it's okay anon, your physicals characteristics aren't the end all be all, you can still succeed with your lesser genetics, there's no need to obsess over them. this isn't even meant to be a jab, i seriously mean it, being this insecure will go away with time man, stop worrying so much.

If manlets truely made better soldiers then child soldiers would still be en vogue. Being a smaller target being an advantage is like saying taller soldiers have an advantage because they can see over walls and bushes better. It's such a small thing its negligible. While the better endurance and strength of someone who isn't a manlet is always useful.
