It's a total waste of 3 hours 21 minutes. Do something productive instead.

I love Hamburger Hill. I wish it had better acting, though. McDermott, Cheadle and the guy who played Motown are the only ones not being total hams.

What are you talking about? /misc/ and the entire americuck right are brainwashed morons who obey every Kremlin directive - i.e. become isolationist and never exert influence abroad - (because muh troops, muh american lives or something)

Where did this meme come from? The sergeant gives a memorable performance at the beginning sure, but the movie is still good afterwards

The most interesting two characters are written out halfway through. No interest in watching the rest - the rest being a generic war movie

Your appreciation of the 2nd half of Full Metal Jacket directly correlates to how fricking young you are.

The whole movie sucks ass, especially the second half where it's just a bunch of future TV actors woodenly reciting lines at each other

Deer Hunter is a overwrought piece of crap, and you have to be 14 or under to fall for the Russian Roulette scene
There are some other great Vietnam War kinos out there though
    Hamburger Hill
    Tigerland
    Bat 21
Flight of the Intruder, an underrated John Milius kino
    We Were Soldiers

lol all those films you listed pale in comparison to rescue dawn which is basically just a fun buddy film

Platoon is the least "anti-western" oliver stone movie, if anything I would describe it more as anti war. It is quite balanced in showing you attrocities from both sides, motivations of the troops over what the vietnamese did to their friends and overall painting it to look like a hellscape - because it was. I suggest you rewatch without your phone and take your ritalin.

Oliver Stone is vehemently anti-war... unless it's a war waged by Russia, in which case it's perfectly ok and justified

I remember liking "Tigerland" but I was probably 13 when I saw it. They don't even go to war but it's vietnam bootcamp shit
Might be time to rewatch and see if it was actually good

Depends what aspect of the war you're trying to relate...
Goodmornig Vietnam and Air America had there place.

Casualties of War. Even as a little kid watching it in the theatre I knew that Michael J. Fox did the wrong thing turning in the guy who saved his life.

Deer hunter has an hour long filler wedding scene and besides that it's pretty good but basically it's a reverse FMJ

The Deer hunter is terrible. You'll wish you were playing russian roulette instead of watching it.
