True, Iran has sea access, they could build desalination plants with all that money instead of trying to steal Afghanistan's water, a landlocked nation.

Practically, plants like these would not only supply sufficient water for municipal purposes, it can be used to change the hydrology of the desert and green the area into grasslands, plains, meadows, rivers, like the hadith.

The china, the UK and us just flat out buy some new tank or weapon their enemy makes a few years after it enters service to study it. Turdies on the other hand cope with getting their hands on 30-40 year old equipment

        >They will devastate Russian troops when in Ukrainian hands, but they become completely obsolete 30 year old designs when getting captured
These two facts are not in tension. Russia just sucks.

Anyway, Iran does not have the ability to reverse engineer American weaponry. "Reverse engineering" as a technical practice is as challenging if not more challenging than designing a new system from scratch. It's not some computer game where you pick a loot drop up and there you go, you just reverse engineered. If you don't have the tools to build the thing, you don't have the tools to analyze it piece by piece.

to track stealth all you need to do is bounce radar waves off of the ionosphere so they move down
stealth aircraft are designed to defeat radar waves directed at them from in front, not coming down from overhead
this is how Australias JORN radar tracking system is able to track B-2s coming and going from Diego Garcia

        >to track stealth all you need to do is bounce radar waves off of the ionosphere
However, to bounce radio waves off the ionosphere, they need to be around 10MHz. That means you get a maximum resolution of 30m, which may be enough to know a plane is in the sky, but definitely not enough to target it.

          Anonymous

Are you moronic? You think if you have a firing solution on a target it'll fail if the target is or maneuvers 15m to the left?

You absolute moron. That means that a missile seeking the signal will not get a weapons grade lock. The firing solution doesn't fail if the target moves. There's no proper firing solution in the first place.
Bouncing off the ionosphere is the kind of thing that tends to attract cruise missile volleys.

The missiles hit the exact targets they wanted to after they gave you morons a 3 hour heads up to evacuate. They proved their point.

You can't even swat out their export variant Shahed 136s they made a decade ago. Where is your hypersonic missiles?

Fair point, but even with the variations the Iranians won't have enough money the parts or the strategic depth to use them effectively.

Iran already has a variant of Javelins they've sent to Jenin to shoot down Apaches. They are likely just seeing what modifications you made since the Javelins they took off your corpses in Iraq

The actual chinese military commonly conduct war games wherein they lose or suffer setbacks (the way wargames are supposed to work), and through official channels they communicate shortcomings they seek to correct in everything from equipment to structure of command (for example after they got shat on in that UN base in africa a while back). Russia does the opposite, their wargames and exercises are just directed theatre shows to make themselves feel better than they should

Nobody gives a shit about Iran. They are the North Korea of the desert, they make a lot of noise but are ultimately harmless. Only people with real animosity to them are in tel aviv and langley, and theyre lizards anyway.

you also still have the rest of the middle east.

There’s no way they fully copied a Jav in the space of 1.5 years; if they actually did it they’ve been at it for several years. But, you know it’s pretty mature tech why hasn’t there been a Jav-like out of these places 10+ years ago?

lack of manufacturing capabilities. they may be theoretically able to hash one out, but creating a system to manufacture them to spec is beyond them.

I'm guessing a lot of costly development time for comparatively little gain. Obviously top-down attack has advantages, but it's way easier for thirdies to make "missile goes straight, tank goes boom" ATGMs, and those still seem to work pretty great even against modern tanks.

This is honestly flattery of the US military.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

This thing is miles ahead of your unguided RPG-7.

Things are pretty darn expensive too, as munitions are.

    >Manufactured by US weapons manufacturers Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, the Javelin costs $178,000, including the launch system and missile, according to the Pentagon's 2021 budget. Each replacement missile costs around $78,000.

      Anonymous

I would say that 50-75% of the cost is because Raytheon and Lockheed Martin have a finger in the pie. I bet if we really wanted to spam those things we could drop the unit cost through the floor by buying the rights and bidding it out.

If you want you can watch a movie about the trip I went on. The owned of wiener.li (email host) arranged a motorcycle trip and I went along.
We stayed in the capital for a couple days and then traveled the countryside. We had a guide with us and visited a number of towns and then looped back. The locals were all very friendly.

          >Do you speak Chinese or Russian
No, but I don't really think that Russian would be much use. The locals we ran into didn't seem to speak any Russian from what I could tell, not sure about Chinese. We got a lot of use out of a Loneyplanet phrasebook. When we failed to pronounce something properly we would just hand the book to whoever we were trying to talk to and point out what we were getting at. Those books have everything written in Cyrillic as well as Latin.

Oh god this shit makes me laugh so hard, imagine being so shit at warfare your country has to reverse engineer old fricking equipment, bahahaha. It's like the Russians creaming over acquiring a missile that was designed in fricking 90s, they'll soon realise they can't mass-produce them because all the components are too expensive or under sanctions, bahahaha.

IT'S DECADES OLD, HAHAHAHA, HOW SHIT MUST YOU BE?

      >IT'S DECADES OLD, HAHAHAHA, HOW SHIT MUST YOU BE?
Its really not though. Javelins have received several upgrades in the last decade, they're a completely different beast to the original. Idk if the improved ones were sent to Ukraine or they got old stock, but the point is the Jav is still competitive with current competitors and is well worth copying.

        >they'll soon realise they can't mass-produce them because all the components are too expensive or under sanctions
Fair point, but even with the variations the Iranians won't have enough money the parts or the strategic depth to use them effectively.

Everyone talking about microchips, but I doubt Iran could actually build the sensor package, even with outside assistance.

When Russia figured out they couldn't fricking replicate Thales Thermal sensor tech because they would basically have to import everything anyway, they pissed away their money on prostitutes and boats and went straight back to begging the French for more 90's era Thermal Sensors.
