Invade Iraq
>advance a few km over the border
>US launches airborne drop into Baghdad Airport that seems them all massacred/scattered
>Suddenly tons of images of panicked US soldiers fleeing, being captured, ambushed and annihilated. The prisoners look scared and malnourished.
>Convoy after convoy of burning US vehicles
>Thousands of vehicles being abandoned by fleeing US troops. Towed away by Iraqi farmers with tractors
>3 months into war, US is still barely over the border and is still besieging Basra.
>Bush announces this was all actually a feint, they never wanted Iraq. Their real objective was Umm Qasr (pic related)
>3 more months
>Using human wave tactics and trench warfare that has seen obscene losses on both sides, US has captured only 160 square km of territory
>Umm Qasr still hasn't fallen
>Iraqis launch new offensive
>US lines break, US troops flee in all directions
>What meager gains the US has managed after 200 days and 50,000 KIA being rapidly reversed in days

I hope that a president Ron Paul would do a air drop and just leave them there without support then abolish a standing army.

You forgot the part where a carrier gets sunk in the Persian Gulf, multiple airbases in Saudi Arabia get wiped, Canada applies to ally with China, and Kurds are getting press ganged into serving at the front.

There were enough woodland BDI's, what they didn't have enough of was woodland MOPP suits since MOPP's are significantly more expensive and you only make them for where you think you will need them (europe).

That, and Iraq had thousands of tanks and a decent anti-aircraft system. I think we often underestimate how great of a feat it was to get those initial aircraft in and start demolishing their radar sites.

Mexico or Canada would be a better comparison because they're our neighbors and aren't equipped to fight the us in any way.

In 1991 it was six weeks of air strikes.

2003 US raped their air force before, but there was no preparatory bombardment.

The noflyzone over Iraq was established from 1991 up unti the day of the invasion in 2003: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_no-fly_zones_conflict
So the US had the advantage of having already done SEAD/DEAD back in Desert Storm and kept It that way until Iraqi Freedom started
