Greetings PrepHole
I'm moving into a shack and have come to the experts for advice and guidance.
It has no electricity and no direct access to water. An outhouse is located nearby. Plenty of space for farming.
What I've come with up so far
>a Camping cot
>Fire/cooking supplies
>Clothing frame-rack/hamper
>Solar lights/Solar alarm-sensor/Solar-powerbank
Some concerns of mine
>Security (It's a dangerous place)
>Off grid hot water shower
>Anything I might have missed or may be usefull/neccesary
I do not frequent PrepHole so apologies for transgressions.
Many thanks.
Here are some main considerations for security
>Gravel roads surroundings
>Bird feeder in trees and befriending the local noisy birds
>Locks obviously
>Anti-theft brackets/braces for solar things
>Big Guard dogs (big mean motherfrickers)
>Personal protection such as knife/gun/tazer/baton
a Big concern is definitely safety and security when I am not home.
The biggest thing in the pic is trees, having a good hedge or row of trees around your property makes it really off-putting for people
no way
its the frickin piranhas anon
>put piranhas in your koi pond for deadly effect
That's enough Ameritard for me for a week.
So you have zero knowledge of how to live off-grid or even camp, it seems, and you've gone balls deep and purchased a shack that's bumfrick off the grid? Why?
Well the situation is not quite as dire. Off-grid homesteading is my goal. I am relatively young and it's time to move out of my parents' house.
This would not only provide some much needed personal space and independence but practices and learning for independence and the aforementioned goal.
The place isn't as bumfrick but still relatively bumfrick.
Food I basically have covered and is of no concern
if that picture is how you intend to get food then you will abandon your little shack within a week
It isn't don't worry. Although it is definitely a long term goal.
Why do you consider it unfeasible?
As far as the hot shower need goes. I've looked into camping showers but they seem to max out at about 5L which is pathetic if you look up the Litre usage of the average 10min shower.
The other option would be to build some fire heated water tank... I would really appreciate help on this one because all the "DIY" showers I've seen have been regular showers water connected shower simply placed outdoors
20l solar shower bag or use a pressure weed sprayer with modified head to suit
Would the 20L be a decent shower? From a quick search the average shower uses 10-12L per minute so that would be about a minute's shower. How much would the modified head improve this?
It also seems to be sun heated? Which seems like it would get luke warm on average. How long does it retain heat? I'm guessing morning showers are out of the question and showers would be limited to early nightfall?
Solar showers have a lot smaller head can get a decent was with one
Your location and available sunlight will tell you when it can be used or they can be filled with hot water from fire
Using one here in australia after a few hours of full sun normally have to add cold water to get a safe temperature
Well I'll be damned. That actually sounds quite fine. Thank you.
>no electricity
>no water
Yet somehow
>it’s a dangerous place
No time stamped pic of the shack = LARP fantasy.
>The 1st worlder can't comprehend crappy living conditions
It's not some fancy shack, it's a piece of shit in a field in a rural place with a high crime rate disconnected from water or electricity supply
>trust me bro
What kind of sad ass life do you live where your first thought to seeing someone claiming they are moving into a shack is "this person on the internet is decieving me about moving into a shack"
Even if it was a larp, what possible motivation would I have to do so? Attention? Wasting your time? The pride of people on the internet thinking I am moving into a make believe frickin shack?
Lastly what the frick is your motivation for questioning this? Are you for some reason jealous about me living in what is essentially a run down box? Is the concept truly so alien to a 1st worlder? Are you a paranoid schizophrenic suspicious fixated on shacks? Did you get molested by someone claiming to move into a shack whilst being in a shack?
Lastly, how would it affect your life if this was a larp?
He probably is deceiving us.
Ah damn you caught me. Please LARP with me and give me some LARP yet accurate and realistic advice.
>Do you really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and lie?
>how does my massive pile of bullshit affect you?
How does my calling you out on it affect you?
It affecting you can compared to me taking a dump then walking over to my dump and inspecting and interogating it
You affecting me can be compared to me making a speech and you joining the audience to take a dump
>a shack in a field
Nice purchase, OP - nice thread, also. I can tell you've got your priorities straight, too, because you're more concerned with putting in gravel roads and befriending fricking birds than putting in an artificial pond or planting trees. Do you even have any building materials on your property, or are any projects just going to be a massive money-sink?
Here's my suggestion: spend your time building a time machine, and go back to a time before you bought a your field-shed, then save some money for another year or two, and buy some forested land in an area that isn't full of meth-heads. That way, the land gives you what you need to build yourself up, and you don't have to worry about managing loud birds, guard dogs, and quicksand pits!
I fully believe you that you plan this, the shanty is real, but I must say its a dumb idea, especially with no water access. how do you plan to farm without water? even if you succeed you will end up a (more) socially isolated weirdo and have nothing to show for it.
