I unscrew the whole bullshit nozzle assembly as the o-rings rotted out in less than a year. I just pour it in like a caveman and spill it all over. We cant have nice things, there was an American company that made gas cans that got sued out of existence because too many people would pour gas on fires and the can would explode. I really wish we'd just let darwin loose for a few years and be done with this shit
Youre talking about blitz, and i still use their old cans that were bought in the mid 2000s. The trick is to keep them out of the sunand theyll last for decades. Once these finally go, im going to buy some steel jerry cans and line them with that gas tank sealant.
G.I. plastic cans are an upgrade but not cheap most times. I also use the water cans (same plastic) for the small cap-mounted spout. It's easy to see why the military switched long ago.
Not just "spills" but either puffs up like a ballon with vapors in the slightest warm temperature and releases a spray of atomized fuel under pressure when full and you break the seal, or crumples to half it's volume when it's partially empty and gets cold so that when you fill it the material memory of the plastic pops it back into shape when it's almost full and creates an internal wave whose peak shoots out the top of the container.
I said it up above but the VP racing cans will solve all these problems. They're thick as hell and won't balloon up or suck down. Worth the investment.
If you can't work a simple plastic gas can then you're too stupid to handle flammable materials.
Stop buying dollar store gas cans and this won't happen.
I use metal ones exclusively. The plastic ones leak vapors even when cold and make my trunk smell like gas, but I got a 10L metal one + pourer for the trunk and it is perfect - no expansion or crumpling and no leaking of vapors.
Plastic is for poorgays
Metal ones leak too if you're a dipshit. You're not supposed to fill them all the way to the top.
>Metal ones leak too if you're a dipshit
Metal ones never leak, even if you fill them all the way to the top (and btw they have an air space that prevents problems unless you actively try to fill it up 10000%)
Plastic ones always leak even when empty. Stop shilling plastic garbage.
Harbor Freight now sells Jerry Can's that work great. I have 4 of them. They don't have the NATO spout, but you can purchase a spout that works pretty much like the NATO spout.
I’ve got a Waivan with that spout. At first I hated it, but then I used it on my motorcycle and fell in love. Love never over or under filling.
Still, I plan to get a plain neck, as it is annoying when filling shit that doesn’t have the depth to push the “trigger”.
Funnels and any can. The solution to the spout problem is not to use a spout. For outdoor use I welded a 4" scrap pipe ring to a hunk of rebar which I stomp into the ground as a funnel holder and works gloriously well.
I use metal ones exclusively. The plastic ones leak vapors even when cold and make my trunk smell like gas, but I got a 10L metal one + pourer for the trunk and it is perfect - no expansion or crumpling and no leaking of vapors.

>The plastic ones leak vapors even when cold and make my trunk smell like gas
Thus the warnings on the container saying "do not keep in vehicle or inside buildings". You did read the warnings, right? Oh, you didn't? Of course not.
>warning: this product is dogshit, do not use >do not store outdoors or expose to sunlight >do not store indoors either :^) >do not put in vehicle, you must tow it in a trailer :^)
plastic = cringe
metal = based
I don't know what everyone's issue but I've never had an issue with these or the ones at lowe's with the green push nozzle. Those aren't as nice but I'm not moronic and they aren't problematic
I've got a big collection of cans. Two of these are 5 gal no-spill, they're my favorite. Had one full of methanol slip it's straps survived about 20 minutes of getting thrown around the trunk. Didn't appear to have leaked a drop.... Something I know none of the other cans I have could to.
Use cans also make great parts tubs because fuelproof. I slice off the tops with a zip disc, drill the ends for rope handles and enjoy. This also works for plastic military cans so old they're cracking under pressure cycles.
What was the cause of all the current gas can regulations? Some liberal policies?
Which funnel type is optimal for putting gas into the car pouring straight from the can? I bought a funnel with the long stem but doesn't seem to work well
I just use whatever cans my job provides and don't bother with the spout, i just pour the gas straight in from the mouth of the container and it fricking spills everywhere
There was a glut of Czech surplus Jerry cans online a while back. It looks like they've gone up in price, when I bought mine they were like $25 now they're $40, even then you just need a spout and a set of new gaskets and you're good to go. After making the switch to metal I'd never go back, I run ethanol free gas in all of my vehicles but the nearest station is 50minutes one way away, so I've got 80 gallons worth of storage available. The main advantage is the real jerry cans have a breather tube that runs from the main opening to the bottom of the tank, with the correct nozzle you can empty a 5 gallon can in under 60 seconds. Plus being metal there's no offgassing, I'd feel very comfortable about having them inside of a vehicle without creating a smell. The only thing they don't do well is dispense small amounts of gas, (think weedwacker sized tank), so I keep a small one gallon tank around for the smaller things.
They're great which is why they replaced steel cans which corrode due to moisture. I use those with funnels and have no need or desire for spouts. I also use the water cans but those seep (different lids) slightly. Doesn't matter since mine stay upright secured in my truck bed and the integral small spout in the cap is nice for small engine fillups.
Race fuel jugs, Justrite style cans and (new) real military steel cans are fine too. If want big reserve for storms etc you can and I did buy an 18-wheeler saddle tank (new takeoff from a glider kit and dirt cheap at 150 bucks) which gained stainless plugs and fittings. Next hurricane it goes inna bed of my longbed truck for filling then truck becomes temporary fuel bowser for other vehicles.
I use this one I got off Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0094D7RSM/
I was pissed off at the plastic ones I found locally, so I went searching for something better. I just couldn't get the "safety" nozzle to work right without spilling gas.
Then I found this one and it's great. Simple attached funnel, no weird spring-loaded nozzle.
I recommend it.
I used to buy only Eagle cans, partly because they're made nearby.
Then I found out that you can get cans from Justrite that have all metal handles (similar to how Eagle cans used to be). Price is usually the exact same.
the trick to that style can is to open it way before you start tilting it
I dont even use funnels all my gas cans are safety can style
they are also great for storing acetone and mek
Remove the flash arrestor and disassemble the spout. Remove the spring. You get to keep the factory spout, but it stays open without the spring. Works very well. Simply remove the rubber gasket from the inside when pushing down, and the assembly comes apart.
The ones with the vapor lock spouts were not for fire safety or because someone poured gas directly on a fire (they don't prevent that), they were mandated as part of the never vending environmentalist agenda against VOCs that have to settle for smaller and smaller sources to go after as huge problems .
That it adds to the expense and complexity of using gasoline powered equipment is just icing on the cake; the end goal is to eliminate all of that stuff too and prohibitions on sales of ICE powered tools and equipment are already on the books so anyone who thinks this is just a minor concession to safety is a either a blithering moron or is one of those anti fossil fuel activists smearing people who realize the scam for what it is and say so.
"California will outlaw the sale of new gas-powered lawn mowers, leaf blowers and chain saws as early as 2024 under a new law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday.
The law requires all newly sold small-motor equipment primarily used for landscaping to be zero-emission — essentially to be battery-operated or plug-in — by that target date or as soon as the California Air Resources Board determined it is feasible. New portable gas-powered generators also must be zero-emission by 2028..."

I'm sure they will and will import them and do all the tricks people use to keep old cars on the road in CA by upgrading old ones that are grandfathered in based on manufacturing date but can run modern engines with no smog checks necessary.
Also making exemptions to special interests and political expediency will become a source of votes and direct graft as politicians "allow" the peons to keep and use their property a while longer and $tate licen$ed commercial operators become the only people who can run gas powered tools.
>zero emission gas powered generators
either they have different definition of emission or this just straight up prohibits sale of power generators
which would be completely moronic, battery tech just isn't there yet
it would mean all food spoils if there's a power outage
Gentlemen, I believe you will really like my method. I use a regular gas can without any safety cuck nozzle bullshit. I add a valve stem with the needle valve removed. I remove or just loosen the cap, and the gas pours out freely and quickly with no gurgling. Picrel is mine.
Are you people all fricking moronic? Or merely pretending? If you dont immediately convert all your cuck nozzle gas cans using cheap and readily available old style conversion nozzles you deserve to get your gas saturated shoes lit on fire while you are wearing them.

Because the cuck nozzle should not exist in the first place. The fact that it does exist, and that so many people find ways to cope with its existence instead of just getting rid of it like a sane person, has caused me to lose all faith in this board and humanity at large. Keep your cuck nozzles. You deserve them.
You obviously didn’t read the posts in this thread. There are more people advocating for elaborate funnel contraptions, $100+ jerry cans, and modifying the cuck nozzles than there are sane people by a ratio of like 25:1. There is exactly one correct solution to this problem, and that is install the correct nozzles. End of discussion. It should have been /thread after this post
You can buy new caps with the old style nozzles on ebay dipshit.
So you are here complaining about other people having solutions and ideas, yet you contribute nothing to the thread except for whining like a little b***h? That is pathetic.
Can someone please spoon feed me on the problem with "modern" plastic jerry cans? From this thread I gather that there is some US specific legislation that requires the use of some sort of troublesome spout?
For reference here in Australia any plastic jerry can will have a flexible spout and a separate air vent you open before emptying the can.
You need a spout that stays closed. Some times this isn't a big deal. If you have a decent sized generator or dirt bike, you just shove it in there hard enough that it activates the spout.
If it's like a lawnmower or weed whacked then you need a special grip to pull the nozzle and a third arm to hold the can and your tool.
The spout also has to capture some of the vapors from the gas tank, so a free flowing vent isn't an option.
Why does this simple piece of plastic make people seethe so hard?
Because it doesn't have to be like this. It wasn't like this.
Killer whales
it might save a life better just do it
because some dumb ass in the mid 2000s set himself on fire pouring directly onto a bonfire and sued blitz into the stone age
A modern gas can with a modern cap replacement sold on the shelf right next to it.
Why people act like this is hard, i dont know.
I have used those for diesel. Had to fill it in two goes as it hit the pump limit.
Probably have to do it in about 5 goes right now...
Hell I filled up two of those VP racing cans the other day. Almost 13 gallons and $60 worth of gasoline... FRICK!
>I’m not dealing with stupid modern gas cans. What are you all using? Water jug with vent?
You can buy new caps with the old style nozzles on ebay dipshit.
