I'm buying my first gun soon. I've shot many kinds of guns over the years but my heart is dead set on the 1911. What's a good, affordable, entry level 1911? I love this boomer blaster like you wouldn't belive so I'm excited to have one of my own.

They’re as cheap as 350 or go into the thousands
What do you want? The cheap ones are pretty close to GI rattle guns. Like the 350 dollar ones are so cheap the only reason not to get one is if you already have an expensive one
My budget is about 500 burger bucks. I need one chambered in .45 ACP and doesn't choke up when I need it.
Get the Rock Island Armory/Armscor ones then. Made in the Philippines on the same machines the WW2-era ones were made with.
A lot of RIA recommendations. Are the phillipines famous for good gun manufacturing? Kind of ironic that they'd make so many .45 guns when their war was what made the US switch to it in the first place.
The .45 is as flip as is it is burger now. There's pics of flip coast guard(? Might just be local gov port security) using tacticooled grease guns with red dots and suppressors because they still work. There's also the meme of flips building 1911s with a hand file and some rocks but there are some 12 guage break action zip guns used by criminals that for whatever reason had extra time and effort put into it to look like a 1911 of all things. Maybe it's like gangs with .40 swishers and welfare or maybe the flip christians view the .45 as a god made punishment for muslims.
>Are the phillipines famous for good gun manufacturing?
they are famous for gun manufacturing
good not so much but what do you really expect at the price point? you get a working gun that wont kill you and thats "good" enough
If PH is good at manufacturing 1911 then why were all the shit I handled from there so bad?
>t. roach
Many anons have swore by their cheap Tisas claiming zero malfunctions through 500 to whatever high round count like 1k, my Colt has jammed on me a lot but that’s a combo of user error and magazine problems and it being a 10mm with a non ramped barrel. Any gun you buy you must put enough rounds down range with it to trust it, I do not trust a gun unless I have at least 500 rounds through it without malfunction
RIA and Tisas are great budget options but remember you must actually shoot the gun, clean the gun as often as you shoot it, understand how it functions and if it malfunctions understand why (magazine issue (common, easy to fix), extractor issue (common, easy to fix), etc)
My first pistol was a Rock Island GI 1911. It was used and filled with fricking moon dust, but after I did an armorer disassembly, cleaned it out, and polished all the important surfaces, it handed quite nicely.
I’ve also heard good things about Tisas, as far as bargain 1911s go.

RIA is made in Philippines for past 3 decades
Girsan/EAA/whatever they're fricking calling themselves is roach trash made in the past decade
OR shell out few extra bucks for Fusion Arms, made in FL
who makes the best murrican made one?
Colt
Dan Wesson
best entry level one is auto ordnance (kahr)
Springfield mil spec is really nice for the money if you want to move up to a US made 1911… I got mine for around 700$ after tax and whatnot…. Have put a few k rounds through it without any major issues.
If you like supporting traitors
What did they do? Sell to China?
https://gunstoday.com/why-is-everyone-boycotting-springfield-armory/
plus their 1911s are made in brazil i think
They were made in Brazil and finished here but now they’re US made IIRC
That logo is so fricking stupid I refuse to buy one.
I've got a Springfield armory 1911 mil spec that I'd had for years and has never given me any problems. I know SA gets memed on for rebranding Croatian guns but as far as I know their 1911s are still made in the US and good to go. If you're looking to cheap out but still want an American 1911 (you should, ignore the poorgays who keep talking about RIA) then look at the Ruger 1911. I think those are in or around $500.

youre welcome
Auto Ordnance
Not shidding on the 1911, but I have a coworker who loves these things and owned a kimber that cost him about 1k. Said the thing was a jam machine, but maybe he didn't know what he was doing or got a bad QA.
thats kimber for you though
if youre gonna go high dollar actually get a custom 1911 from a company like alpha foxtrot
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/982506060
>thats kimber for you though
Doesn't seem to translate to their wheelgats.
RIA
>works on my machine
Same, I love my Rock Island.
Charles Daly 1911s are pretty cheap and decent, and made in Italy now if you don't want Flip or Turk guns.
>made in Italy now if you don't want Flip or Turk guns.
charles daily just an importer currently its itailian but a couple years from now it could be turkish again. or both at the same time. they sell whatever they can get.
Save up and get a cmp wwii 1911.
>but my heart is dead set on the 1911.
OP after he gets his GAT 1911
if you just want the cheapest one that's gud enuff get a rock island. if you want a somewhat better "authentic" one get a colt but know that you're overpaying for a horse logo. ruger and springfield make ok 1911s but there's really no point compared to the first two options. avoid sig and s&w because they have gay extractors. definitely avoid kimber and no matter what shills itt have probably already posted DO NOT BUY TURKSHIT.
why avoid kimber
overpriced boomerbait from the same israelite who is now in charge of sig.
Tisas 1911
Don't be fricking stupid dude, you do not need that 1911, you will never need the 1911 because the 1911 holds less ammo than the new generation 5 glock 21. It's gonna be your first gun and you want that thing to last you forever and ever and ever, a regular glock barrel can last over two hundred thousand rounds before it breaks, that piece of shit 1911 won't last past one hundred thousand rounds before the barrel cracks.
Just buy yourself a Gen 5 G21, you're going to like the fact that it holds twice the ammo as a 1911, also the new gen 5 g21 has better accuracy due to the smoother gen5 trigger.
Yeah I’d just spend the money on that glock too. Just can’t go wrong with a glock. Most people say your first pistol should be a glock for a reason. 1911s are cool but the glock will be better in a gun fight
>but the glock will be better in a gun fight
you're not in a film, this will never occur.
>you want that thing to last you forever and ever and ever
there are 100 year old 1911s out there in perfectly good condition. what is your glock going to look like in 2120?
I guarantee that the nylon infused polymer on that glock will outlast the steel on the m1911, and i don't know of a m1911 barrel that has lasted in excess of 200,000 rounds.
yes but that's irrelevant to what I said. gunfights will almost never occur in your lifetime, but i guess i missed saying my point being: just buy whatever the frick your budget could buy and as long as you like how it feels it'll do
Every glock 21 has softer shooting recoil than the m1911, this is due to the larger grip back strap which would require the shooter to exert more force to hold onto the gun which lessens felt recoil, more surface area means more control is needed, also your left hand has all that grip to hold onto during shooting which helps in stabilizing the firearm.
At this point the glock is superior in terms of longetivity, ammo, and recoil, not much of a point in getting a m1911, seeing as how a gen 5 g21 is cheaper than most 1911's, also you can attach a red dot to a g21 unlike more 1911s
Do you even own one? You don’t seem efl
It’ll still be ugly as sin
have a nice day
I went with a parkerized rock island for my first pistol, I wanted something full sized 1911 in 45 and not overly expensive. I don’t regret it, it’s been an excellent pistol, it’s not fancy but it’s accurate and reliable. After using it for years my only regret is the finish on it. I’ve put a lot of rounds and holster time through it, and the parkerized finish shows it. It’s not the end of the world, it’s served it’s purpose, I learned a lot with it, and I was able to be rough with it because I didn’t see it as a huge chunk of money. In hindsight I wonder if I should have went for a different finish. I didn’t want anything flashy at the time, and I sometimes wonder if parkerized was the right choice. But besides that all the options people listed here will do well
just get a stacatto 2011. it's the best mid-entry level withiut having to think too hard.
I have seen basically every 1911 on the market in person and the only ones I actually would spend money on would be a series 70 Colt Gold Cup National Match (CGCNM). They are utterly superb. Kimber/Les Baer possibly but nearly all of their models look off to me in one way or another, just gawdy
everyone that bought a ria or sds is a gay
