And proceed to do nothing the whole time you’re there because it’s a welfare program full of people that are there just because they want gibs
99% of enlisted and officers, even if they stay for their entire career life, will never be deployed, and at most they will do international training in NATO events and get some decent training stateside, that’s it.
At worst they get some low quality training and then still do nothing their entire career.
>And proceed to do nothing the whole time you’re there because it’s a welfare program full of people that are there just because they want gibs
what exactly do you think the American military is like?
He said worthwile. But worthwile is subjective to where you're coming from
The pay: >only good if you're from the third world yourself, otherwise terrible >serving may grant you access to gibs in a country that's wealthier than your own
Both points are nullified if you're from a developed country where a pizza boy makes as much and you already having access to the gibs from birth
Besides the lackluster money from a first world perspective the other benefits are mostly if you're on the run from the law or already a prisoner, in which case there's a chance at freedom by joining these things
And from what I understand climbing the ranks and actually having a "career" isn't easy in these kind of groups either, you can join to be a young footsoldier and you're supposed to go do something else after you do a few years
Peacekeeping on behalf of a wealthy country can be a decent side job money-wise but whether you're doing anything "worthwile" is a bit questionable, might look good on a CV though, for some reason there's a lot of people who believe in it
My point isn’t even about money but about purpose, in the US Army if you enlist, even if you’re in peacetime, you know you’re part of an organization that has a purpose and will act if needed, and the geopolitical posture of the state controlling it is such that the army is an actual instrument that can be used.
While here the army has never been used since ww2 outside of very small deployments, and even then it was very held back.
I don’t deny that people get into the us army for gibs too but in general it is a way more serious institution
I don't know maybe you could become a cop. You guys have a bunch of Law enforcement agencies. But if you want to do something in the Italian military the only option really is special operations.

I dislike cops, it is true that they get some action tho, but they’re a bunch of terroni and most of the are public bureaucracy worker tier, I know because I had to interact with them multiple times
>worthwhile military career >doing nothing
What do you think the military is supposed to do?
At a minimum do proper training regularly and be ready to be used in case of need, none of which happen

I‘m a German, Took 4 Years of training for a office Job but absolutely hate it. I‘m fit, not Training actively but outside a lot. I‘m thinking of joining Bund but it seems like the pay isn’t all that great compared to different careers. Considering Higher ranks barely pay more i feel like i‘d be wasting my time. Plus points would be firearm training without paying mass amounts or becoming a policemen, coordinated training and life structure. Most people tell me i‘m idiotic because i already finished a higher ranking civilian training that earns much more money but if i sit in an office two more years acting like i‘m doing something for 8 more hours they can scrape me off the concrete one day. How are the prospects to get an interesting job in the Bund (aviation, coordination, trainer)? Of seeing the world in nato training? I‘m at a loss rn.
ffl?
