Doesn't standard lvl IV eat every black tip currently on offer? What I'm saying is you need tungsten core or a handloaded .22 black tip out of like a 22-250 if you want to eat armor. 300 WM with a black tip doesn't cut it.
This stuff's definitely just for the collection, little to no practical use. I also have a healthy amount of m61, m62, and m855a1 projectiles for my reloading. With some luck this war will end soon, and my european friend will be able to get his hands on some p AP for me...
>Doesn't standard lvl IV eat every black tip currently on offer? >does the armor that is very specifically rated to stop black tip in particular stop black tip
yes it sure does

At every level of skill, the larger target is more reliably and quickly acquired and hit. It's a physical fact. Someone as fast or as good as you will have an advantage.
Agreed, but it all depends on what level of armor you expect to meet. This is dm91, replicable by a cone point grind on a piece of tungsten electrode rod (nope, not as hard as tungsten carbide, but still dense and harder than steel alloys), a 3d printed sabot and the lead melted out of any run of the mill ball round, like
Account for projectile weight (light for caliber) and overall length, then start low and work your way up into +P pressures and velocities. Smaller diameter on relation to the length increases sectional density, which aids penetration, but also reduces mass unless you can extend your core length to compensatw for it. And too extreme a length:diameter ratio leads to poor penetration, as lateral forces wil shatter the rod on impact, or the core will have too little mass to retain enpugh energy to penetrate (e.g. flechettes)
laws are wacky, in ap pistol ammo is illegal, atf said that 5.56 and 308 are pistol ammo. 54r isn't (yet), and these were made by a small company and sold to civs.
You've got plates they've got plates, one of you is going to chisel through or hit outside the plate eventually, might as well use the most penetrative ammo possible.

picrel is m993, only a handful of plates can stop it

unless its +p+, or tungsten, probably.
I don't think suitable AP ammo for 7.62 is commerically available.
Yeah the only stuff commonly available is mild steel core, generally worse than m855. While some more exotic materials have been developed and even fielded, I have never seen them stateside in quantity.
Dunno how heavy his example cartridge is, but 350L can get over 3kfps with those super light 60 or 65 grain copper solids.
I've always wondered if those would punch through quarter inch steel plates, since pointed lead projectiles will start to punch through at that speed.
They can pen lv3 PE plates, so I wouldn't be surprised if at velocity it could go through 3+/855a1 plates. I think many lv 4 would stop it though, just like m995.
I get it
Everyone will die.
Oh gee 5 whole rounds?
Unlike you, I don't miss
Hey mr. lord of shot placement, why not just use better ammo and not miss the lower carotids, lumbar spine, or throat?
Hipbone too dog shot a homie in da hip
just aim better moron
He think he can survive on with collector quantities.
Why is it in a weed baggie
I have some M855A1 and a 20" barrel. Is that close enough?
OP btfo
You're certainly better off than OP.
Throw in a Reap IR and you're sitting pretty
I've got an NVS MX-2 thermal monocular/scope. Has the same core as the PAS-13. Close enough?
>NVS MX-2 thermal monocular/scope
you need a SWIR scope to be the ultimate giga chad
Where can I buy this without being scammed
you can get a1 on gunbroker, like 2-3$ a round. not great not terrible.
Jesus post a burner email. Theres tons of it around
>shoots you in 50 caliber
heh, nothing personal, kid
The only thing you could do with 5 blacktips is make casting molds for your own penetrators.

No shit sherlock.

Dank, what tuck did that fall off of?
IMO, 5 rounds is nice, but if you are seriously fighting dudes with armor, volume of fire is king.

thanks OP, but I'm on that tarkov leg meta
Just shoot the pelvis. You either damage the aorta or femoral, while taking down their ability to move.
pelvis isn't a 1-shot stop. just go for the head, its the same size.
Fairly certain one shot to the pelvic bone crumples people, plus all the arterys and the spine near there
Lots of important stuff there. Like my anatomy prof always used to say "if you actually want to die, cut the femoral, not the radial"
Mozambique?
They make lv4 dickplates now, also, center mass is always dominant strategy. Larger targets are more quickly and reliably acquired and hit.

Who the frick wears dick plates though? Certainly not anyone doing any amount of walking or running.
Back face deformation is a meme as an injury mechanism but getting smoked in the balls with it might be an exception.

It'd be extremely interesting to stick that projectile on a 350L case.

Very neat. Any links to the 3D sabot plans?
ive got 54r AP and API but im pretty sure level 4 plates are rated to stop that.
how do civilians get these? do national guardsmen just pocket a few during range day and then sell them on ebay?
laws are wacky, in ap pistol ammo is illegal, atf said that 5.56 and 308 are pistol ammo. 54r isn't (yet), and these were made by a small company and sold to civs.
weird. atf sounds super gay - why aren't they doing something useful like pursuing the nig nogs who send their sugar mamas to buy guns for them
Oh anon….you can’t possibly think that in the current year+8 that the government works for the people
Will armor piercing rounds save you against a drive-by shootout?
""""Armor piercing""""" assault rifle ammunition will not penetrate lvl IV cermaic plates.
You've got plates they've got plates, one of you is going to chisel through or hit outside the plate eventually, might as well use the most penetrative ammo possible.
if you're just standing there trading like morons, someones probably gonna score a headshot before your plates get dug through
What're they gonna do if I don't have it, throw a really heavy set of body armor at me?
bruh why did you take my pic and post it lmao
>why did you copy and paste my pic to make a shitty thread
welcome to PrepHole

Body armor is the greatest argument for the American 180. Just apply bullet hose to face. Repeat until glowing stops.
Aim for the head moron
.338lm will punch through 1/2in plate all day so... 8.50 per round though, so pick your targets if your poor.
I have a bunch for my M82A1
>m-muh blacktip
You mean the thing my armor is specifically rated to stop? Hope you didn't give the boomer at the gunshow too much money for those.

*7.62x39
meant to clarify that
39R makes a poor choice for even worrying about ap, too slow to ever beat level 3
Deer got armor now? I have a belt or two of black tip .50 so I'll be okay either way.
I think this guy in the sopranos looks like a Chad Lucas trexarms
>body armor
How do I get m993?
You don't, glowie
If I was a glowie I would have an easier time getting it, Black person
