If I move what's the best way to move my library? Taking down all the books off the shelves sounds like a nightmare. Do you think there are moving companies that will wrap them up with the books and transport my beloved library safely??

>Taking down all the books off the shelves sounds like a nightmare.
how the frick else would you be able to move your books?
get off PrepHole, get some boxes and start packing loser, no easy way out
Books are for homosexuals, just leave them you don't need any
Imagine burdening yourself with such granny horseshit
Having moved a dozen times with a library 4 times bigger than this, no. No professional movers will wrap your full shelves. Just bite the bullet and box everything up.
Probably this
If you wanted to, you could order a box of the big shrink wrap rolls for pallets and wrap what you could before they show up, but it’s going to make it wayyyy heavier and shifting weight and piss them off and it will be more likely that something gets damaged.
this would be an irregular shape too which is the last thing you want.
>shifting weight
Just pack them with newspaper, bubblewrap, or foam or some shit then wrap them before the movers arive. Who cares how heavy it is, they're paid to lift heavy things.
"hey bros, just wrap those 300kg shelves and move them, because I'm too lazy to take these books off, okay?"
how do you think that would work out, anon?
Acquire boxes then put books in said boxes
Done.
yes, there are moving companies that will do anything if you pay them enough. but no, the books cannot stay exactly where they are on the shelves and the whole thing be moved, it would be too heavy and too precarious. the books will be packed in boxes and moved alongside the shelves. if you pay them enough they might take pictures of the book order and redo it for you, or you can just do it all yourself you lazy bastard. I've got a personal library too but when I move I do it myself. if you really love your books you won't be stupid enough to entrust a bunch of nobody's to pack and handle them properly.
>take pictures of library in current state aka the way you like it
>disassemble library and bring books to next house
>use pictures to rebuild library
Why is this a problem? This is DIY 101, take pictures of the working shit before you break it. Your use of LED strips, plants, and the phrase "beloved library" makes me think you are one soft motherfricker. One who has never picked up a tool in his life. I bet you wear those textured sweaters that are too big for you and that go over your wrists. Shit, I'd break a piece off you. Thigh highs too?
nta but what's wrong with having plants??
NTA other anon, plants are great but I'd keep them away from the books, like on a different surface, just to prevent any spillage, moisture damage, or stray insects from damaging anything. But judging by OPs pic, those are probably plastic plants.
>lights on the outside pointing outwards
Why?
Is this an actual photo?
OP is onions. This is DIY. Here's some herbs.
recycle them and buy digital versions of same books
the small uhaul boxes are called small book boxes s.t. you dont' make 200lb unliftable boxes of books. you put them in as nice as possible so they don't slide around and pack them with other books trying to fill all the places in the box where something could fly. you can get 3 or 4 boxes, the amount that fits in your car, and reuse the same boxes if you have shelves at the new place.
I've moved a half a dozen times and my honest opinion is get rid of literally everything you possibly can, I got rid of 400+ scifi books when I moved last and I haven't missed them. Chairs, table, that shit is easy to pull from craigslist for cheap, unless it's you and a buddy's truck just literally ditch as much shit as possible.
Get boxes and mail them to the destination. Then put the books into the biggest book. Carry the book to the destination. Once the boxes arrive, throw away the boxes.
is this supposed to read like you were having a stroke?
>Do you think there are moving companies that will wrap them up with the books and transport my beloved library safely??
No, but there are moving companies that will pack them up for you. Just do that if you're a lazy shit.
You could hire a company to move your entire house, library and all.
A house moving company would probably make him take the shelves down so they don't shift in transit lmaooo
Dude, a milk crate filled with book is already heavy as is. You can't move a bookcase and load it on a truck if it's filled with books.
Scan them to disk then carry them on a thumb drive.
maids will usually pack shit for you
Around my place the pool boy seems to be in charge of packing shit.
the LED strip lights are the real nightmare
>the LED strip lights are the real nightmare
How so.
Because it looks like shit.
They're pointing outward, illuminating nothing. There's no reason for them to exist and it would look better without them.
FFS, by the time it took you to post this and read comments you could be done by now. Get a ton of the small heavy duty moving boxes from HD and a tape gun, get started. There's this thing called work, try it.
op would rather pay $200 a month to work out at a gym and another $400 a month for a maid and handyman to do all his house work, than put some books in boxes himself and skip the gym lol
>what's the best way to move my library?
Put the books in boxes.
>Taking down all the books off the shelves sounds like a nightmare.
Don't be a lazy b***h, it's 30 minutes of work at most.
>Do you think there are moving companies that will wrap them up with the books and transport my beloved library safely??
I'm sure there's probably some movers that would be willing to do that if you pay them enough. However your books are far more likely to get damaged by trying to move the bookshelves with the books still in them than if they were in boxes.
If you really cared about your "beloved library" you'd box them up. But this isn't really about that, it's about you not wanting to do any work.
Also if the shelving units aren't extremely sturdy, trying to move them with books still in them could result in them falling apart.
>my beloved library
>cheapest ikea MDF shelves
but muh leds
Do the books become better quality if you place them on more expensive shelves?
Yes.
Obviously
Frick off, anytime you see any non rich person with a library it's IKEA Billys and for good reason. They are the best tall bookshelves that 90% of people can get.
here is an idea about your bookshelves
im not rich and I made mine from poplar
>Taking down all the books off the shelves sounds like a nightmare.
This is why you don't need a physical copy of every book you've ever read. When you can fit every book ever written onto a single hard drive, your bookshelves should be for favorites and things that you reference or reread often.
>When you can fit every book ever written onto a single hard drive,
not even close to being true
if you read a 200 page book every day for 60 years, they will all fit on this thumb drive
Use dynamite.
those LEDs are some serious trailer trash shit
Pack 'em up in a box. If you can get boxes or bags small enough you could do 1 shelf per box and document the order you'll put them up to make it easier.
If you have time while you're at it do some book keeping. I threw up a list of my bookshelf in LC order onto a site so family and friends could use me as a personal library. Might as well do something nice for the people you care about.
Sometimes you just need to start over on a collection
LMAO
If you tried to make a moving company move shelves with books on them, the boys would probably just leave
It would suddenly be quite apparent that you're an unreasonable customer
Those 1/4" mdf backs attached with thumbtacks would crumple and pull off immediately
buy less shit you overgrown child.
Not really related but
>Be me, married
>Have book collection
>Wife gets bored on day and reorders all my books according to their name
I was so pissed off
