I will be going camping in a few days and will be sleeping in a tent. I will be using an electric heater to warm the tent. I added some duct work to separate the heater from the tent. I will also wrap the duct in high heat resistant fiberglass. Any thoughts?

Where do you intend to plug it in? Does the campsite have power?

        You have electricity?
Just bring your PS5, it will heat up the tent.

This is the dumbest shit I've seen all day. I would swear this was a baitpost but then you posted that pic to prove you were serious.

He actually went and built it and turned it on.

      >So heater malfunction does not ignite tent.
You're aware that these things are UL certified and for unattended operation in homes, right?
They have a tip-over switch on the bottom, which your ridiculous funnel is undoubtedly locking circuit-closed.
And that down-sloping part of your funnel is going to get oftly hot. That's where you're going to burn your hand or melt your vinyl.
Which, of course isn't to mention: YOU'RE FRICKING CAMPING. DRESS BETTER. BRING A GOOD BAG. CUDDLE A WARM WATER BOTTLE IF YOU'RE SO COLD.

New heaters like OP's don't have the mechanical buttons on the bottom anymore, so his duct isn't bypassing anything. He's definitely restricting airflow and that will overheat the unit for sure.

I tested it and it does get very hot indeed. I'm afraid that I have made a mistake. Back to Home Depot to return the items.

      You fricking dummy.

If you want to be warmer bring a better sleeping bag. This is not only heavier but also more expensive.

      I agree with this anon.
Anything short of high-alpine camping, you really ought to have gear that you can sufficiently warm solely from your body heat.

Warming the tent means you brought the wrong clothing and if your warmer fails you're fricked.

Copy success instead, /k/ and PrepHole are useful.

Just use the heater inside the tent you dork. All you have to do is run it on low for a little while and you can probably even shut it off after that

Just bring an electric blanket. It will be plenty. Or start your tent on fire. I guess that would work too.

This. Heating blankets are awesome. Nothing beats snuggling into a warm bed after a busy day, when it's a bit cold around.

Blankets are nice, but have you ever used a heated mattress pad?

We will be 'camping' on a plot of land that has electricity. Our cars will be parked about 20 feet from our tents. No hiking will be involved.

Bringing electric heaters camping is a b***h move. Just insulate and bring a decent sleeping bag, I don't even bring one when I winter camp. It will just encourage you to sit in the tent all day, and if that's what you're doing why the frick are you camping.
