the randomly unpainted desert tan fittings on an otherwise woodland Bradley is pure sovl, it's like it's got a story of it's service history written in camo paint
some of these vehicles have been in active service for nearly 40 years, at which point they were converted from one model to another, parts damaged, had to be replaced. A lot of parts were ordered in woodland / green and a lot were ordered in tan. You see it on brand new tanks too.
Well yeah, but the Ukranian Bradleys are all Desert Storm variants that arrived in uniform tan. The bits that are still desert were bits that were covered or removed for painting (like the inside of hatches and sight covers)
they were loved by the people who actually rode in them
post-1991 reports spoke highly of them
the hate comes entirely from the highly inaccurate pentagon wars movie
>"hey man what do you think would happen if you fired a powerful ATGM at the side of a bradley" >"it would probably explode" >"yeah but we should probably test it out" >"wtf no why would we destroy a bradley just for that we already know what will happen"
thank fuck the navy didnt listen to him
in theory, the tests could tell you how to reduce casualties even on a successful penetration
which is why the tests were modified so that the bradley wouldnt explode when hit so they could examine the specific damage an ATGM could inflict on a bradley
but apparently blind to the utility of his own testing methods, colonel burton claimed it was cheating
in the end, the testing accomplished very little
and the thing burton wanted to begin with, an uparmored bradley, was designed entirely without his input
the M2A2 has 14.5mm protection from the sides and 30mm protection from the front
i think they would look very cool in russia
