i saw this video on youtube and wondered why he was able to drill through the brick so quickly. And then saw that he's using standard drill bits instead of masonry bits. Do you think that's why?

If you’re trying to drill through brick or concrete or mortar, a regular bit won’t make a dent. You need a titanium bit. And even those wear out after 3 or 4 jobs.
but the guy literally used the bits in my pic
>You need a titanium bit
There is no such thing as a titanium bit
Titanium-Nitride is a cheap shitty coating put on standard high speed steel bits that wont help you at all drill through brick.
Its done for looks
I'd mention the masonry bits I've seen that are nearly indiscernible from regular jobbers, but the box is clearly marked for wood and steel.
He repeatedly refers to them as masonry bits too.
The frick did I just watch?
>The frick did I just watch?
Did you watch it?
Says his drill has hammer.
Identifies them as masonry bits.
Guy's a pro builder.
Think maybe he repurposed a case?
>NO YOU CAN'T REPURPOSE A CASE
>And then saw that he's using standard drill bits instead of masonry bits
You can see the carbide tips of the masonry bits in your screenshot.
Check your eyes c**t
Any twist drill will go through brick once, the functional component is the hammer drill, the one he's using has big enough saw tooth step it can shatter the brick, the flutes just clear the loosened material. A masonry bit will obviously last longer because it has a carbide tip which is considerably harder than hss
no you fricking can't and secondly masonry bits don't usually have an edge like that on the flute spiral. those are jobber drill bits for wood and metal. cutting edges on the side of the flutes on masonry bits would be work out in one second.
The answer is:
he used the wrong type of drill bit and wore it out in that one job.
>why he was able to drill through the brick so quickly
I was surprised that it didn't go in quicker. hammer drill + new masonry bit that that fast speed would go in like butter.
Anyone else here sharpen up masonry bits on a green wheel and use them to drill hardened steel?
The carbide class on masonry bits is so garbage, its not even worth your time to do so. Youll be better off with just M42 cobalt.
They sell "multi material" carbide bits that come presharpened so you dont even have to do it
He clearly calls them masonry bits...
Then again drilling bricks is easy
