I really want to shoot my AR15 without having to go to the gun range, anyone ever tried using pellets with primers instead?

I really want to shoot my AR15 without having to go to the gun range, anyone ever tried using pellets with primers instead? How far/accurate do they go just using primers without any propellant?

buy a .22 revolver and a couple boxes of .22 CB Caps, then shoot from the comfort of your living room couch

Giving yourself and family if you have any lead poisoning.

Lead poisoning from improper indoor ranges mostly comes from the shit in the primers. That's what you'll breathe in, not the bullet. OP's setup is no better in that regard.

Do you even have a source of primers locally? Otherwise expect to pay 9c per primer online after shipping and HAZMAT fees. Also, definitely don't shoot that inside unless you want your home contaminated with lead from the primers.

This seems like a great way to foul up your barrel. You're probably better off getting one of those dry fire lasers.

maybe in your federally owned shithole of a state, but out in REAL AMERICA (the midwest) land is plentiful and cheap, i have a teachers salary and still managed to get a house with an acre of land, i can go out and plink at shit all day

if you actually owned and lived in one acre plot you’d know that it’s only ~70yd from edge to edge on a square-shaped plot

Acres don't need to be square.

get a cheap shotgun and dryfire a lot. you have to make the shooting noises with your mouth but it's like 80% as good

frick it I have .223 reloading stuff, a shitty delton, and a 22 air gun. Will report back tomarrow when I try this after not being a drunk. My only concern is the gap the pellet has to jump to engage the rifling deforming or breaking it apart. All other anons in this thread a gay no gunz btw, so don't feel bad for poising an interesting question.
    >Also you know you can buy the cmmg 22 converion kit and shoot .22cb/subsonic/quiet and do the same thing with a bullet closer matched to your barrels desinged twist rate right?

I would be really careful that you don't get a bore obstruction in between them.

that was my first thought, I have a bore light and knock out rod and will check after firing ofc so I should be good, am pretty sure my 9/1 twist wont stabilize the feather weight pellet for shit but hopefully it stays intact and can rely on aerodynamic stabilizatition.

The decomposition products of a bare primer get deposited in the barrel, and they become incandescent again when re-exposed to hot gas. This can cause pretty nasty damage to the rifling of your barrel over time. I wouldn't recommend doing it frequently.
